Is MR277 or MR278 the proper manual for an 88 MJ?

Hey guys. I'm a noob.  Been an XJ guy for years but I pick up my 88 MJ on Friday if all goes according to plan and there is no rust as he says.  Question is as seen in the title. Is MR277 or MR278 the proper manual for an 88 MJ?  I've been looking around trying to find proper manuals and on eBay people advertise both of these as manuals for an 88-model year.  Not quite as clear cut as the color change of the physical book and the big year on the front of the manuals.  My oldest XJ has been a 95 so Renix is new to me and I know the first problem I need fixed is a broken speedo so info on connections and wiring are needed.

MR277 is what you want. That’s the actual manual for all things that make the MJ safe and drives. MR 278 is the body shop manual. Cool to have but not essential.

Exactly what I'm looking for thank you!  I thought the number difference was based in years on the vehicle.  Are there others besides 277 and 278 then?

Theres other manuals that aren’t MJ specific like the engine manuals and transmission ones but those two MRs are the only MJ specific ones.

the proper manual is the 89 manual set   (it's the first year of the chrysler rewrite)

The MR277 come in two volumes.  The first 1.5 books covers the 86 model.  The second half of vol. 2 covers the 87 4.0 model, technical service bulletins, and other updates.
