Jlindsey86
When I purchased my MJ the owner also included the OEM steelies with the truck as he had changed over to alloys. I began refinishing the steelies this week and decided to do a deep clean on the plastic caps. Bare in mind while they were extremely dirty they cleaned up to be in perfect condition, that is until I thought it would be a good idea to quick dry them in the oven. My oven will preheat to a minimum temp of 170 degree. Being a thicker plastic I wasn't too worried. I placed the wet plastic caps on the cold middle oven rack and preheated it to 170. This took about 3 min. As soon at the oven had preheated to the selected temperature I immediately turned it off and left the parts to sit inside for about 5 min. As I walked back into the kitchen thinking these were going to be beautiful, I was shocked to see that they warped and the center caps glazed over and are now unusable...what was going to be a budget refinishing just turned out to be a much more expensive endeavor as I'm sure these are going to be impossible to find in the condition they were in before my great idea. Don't be like me.

89 MJ
Mistakes happen, I’m sure most of us have all had some stupid mistake that we’ve done while working on our MJs. On the bright side, you may be able to find a really nice set cheap since those wheels aren’t super desirable.
eaglescout526
Nothin more dumb than entering the MJ world and tossing MJ specific stuff not knowing you can’t get them easily. So all is good there. I think there might be some as NOS out there. Not sure.
dasbulliwagen
Those caps were used on other Jeeps as well if I remember correctly. I think they could be had on the YJ and TJ with the same steel wheels.
GrizzzzBear
The Black Center Caps, were used on a multitude of Models & Years. Check around, they are not too difficult to find. Just a quick look, I found singles, about $25. Sets of 4 or 5 started about $125. I have the Chrome version on my MJ. With the Stainless Rings, Not an easy find anymore.
