Here is the rear of my MJ. While I am NOT SOA, I AM @ 5.5" of lift. :D Which is about what you'll get SOA anyhow. The tars are TREXUS MT's from Interco, 31X10.5X15 on facroet 10 spoke Jeep rims.

Its a bit more wheel well showing than I would like. But look at PU trucks today. Both Chevy and Ford are produsing them with a mile of wheel well and itty bitty tars. I done think mine looks as bad as those!!

All the more room for some killer flex. I plane on doing it as my tired 4 cyl. won’t turn 33” well enough for daily driving.

My MJ had 31s on it when I bought it. It looked so silly with the SOA that I swapped the Q78s off my TJ onto it.

Keep in mind, however, that my wheelwells are cut, as well.

its cool lol,

SOA=Spring over axle

cause stock comanche leaf springs are sprung under the axle flipping them to ontop the axle usually gives a little more than 5? inches in the back

thanks for all the input yall.

I put 31s On mine also noticed a little rub when i made a sharp turn What is the cheapest and esyest way to get a 1 1/2" LIFT ON MY truck

My plan for my newest MJ (stock 4x4 sporting 31s) is to add a second MJ main leaf to my packs (cut the eyes off and stick it underneath the current main). That should bump it by like an inch and then I'll just add a poly spacer to the front to match. Be advised that this may not solve your rubbing problem if the tire is rubbing on the control arm. A simple way to cure that is to unscrew the steering stops and add a washer behind them.

Jeep on!

Pete, you could always get some ZJ control arms, at least I think it's the ZJ ones. They are the same length, but have a bend in them to prevent tire rub. Pick'n'pull - $5.

the rub is on the fender thanks for the info

Can you guess what my answer to this problem is

I was thinking it was WJs, but regardless, the pull-your-part by me rarely has Grands in it. I'll most certainly keep my eyes open for them now though.

And while you're at it, take the bed off.

Oh, that's your solution to everything! :D

Pete,

You are right it is the WJ. If you find one of them pull the whole front axle while you are at it, to get the passenger side hi-steer knuckle, and the steering set-up. It is beefier than the stock MJ crap.

This IS A GREAT SWAP!! But be sure you get the entire assemble as I believe the hubs and calipers are different. Not to mention the lug pattern...WJ's are 5 on 5 ...if I'm not mistaken! At the very least the calipers, you may be able to use your rotors depending on the year of your rig.

Nah, my solution to everything involves a sledgehammer.

haha. my brother does the same thing... except its the angle grinder to the offensive part.

one question dirtycomanche..

when you say don't buy rusty's is that rusty's offroad I'm assuming?

what happened?

Posted

Yeah, Rusty's offroad. Just generally really crappy product. Design, quality, etc. Left me feeling empty inside, and spending a lot of money to do it a different way...

That's for their long arms. I feel the same towards anything else they make in house.

I'd elaborate, but only if you really need convincing that they suck.

Posted

we (me and my brother) have only bought like maybe 3 things from them...

renix throttle body spacer,

hi lift jack,

nothing BIG like longarms

what about their springs are they of quality?

I believe you are right again, but I THINK that the stock wheel hubs will bolt on, but I am not positive on this. I am pretty sure there is a write-up somewhere discussing this swap. I tok the easy way out and just bought the Terra-Flex Hi-steer knuckle... man have they gone up in price since I bought mine

Ignorant @$$ here, but what is SOA. Not a new b to Jeep but new b to lifts, here is mine with a 3" and 33 12.5x15

JEEP.jpg

Is this really a 3in lift? Got any more pics. I was thinking of a 4.5 w/ spring over rear but if I could also fit 33s with only a 3in that would be good.

Posted

I fitt 33's on a 2"bb with plenty of fender cutting too

Also keep in mind that when you install a 3" lift, you normally get 4-5, and when you install a 5.5 you get somewhere around 7-8", and it has stayed that way even though I have a heavy @$$ winch bumper, and a winch on the front.

Springs are quality. As I said, only their in-house stuff is crap. The springs are made by somebody else. Their OLD rear leaf packs liked to sag, but that was a couple years ago so unless you're buying used it'll never be a problem (those were for XJs/YJs anyways, not like you'd be using them).

But anything made in-house is buyer beware.
