89 MJ Posted May 15, 2021 Posted May 15, 2021 Very nice! I believe @Pete M is trying to collect build sheet info. Looks like a Sportruck. What are your plans with it?
Pete M Posted May 15, 2021 Posted May 15, 2021 indeed I am. if you could send the fullsize image of the window sticker to ComancheClub@hotmail.com that would be sweet! that truck is a collectors items for sure

What are your plans with it? Super excited to have it! Going to baby it, drive it on the weekends and take it off the road during the winter. I'd like to keep it as close to original as possible, and would eventually like to get a nice paint job. Who knows though, maybe a small 2 or 3" lift with 31s in a few years. I'm debating on replacing the grill and bezels, sideview mirrors and handles with chrome trim to give it that classic look. For now though, just flushing fluids and reading through cruiser's guide!

I would avails driving it in the winter at all costs. These trucks rust like crazy, especially if they are ever exposed to salt on the roads.

Luckily it's not going to be my daily driver and I can store it away for the NY winters.

The build thread is in my sig if you need pics for reference.

Does this mean it did not roll out of the factory with a catalytic converter? Trying to navigate NY laws and whether I can remove the one on the truck and straight pipe it.
eaglescout526 Posted May 20, 2021 Posted May 20, 2021 The NAA code means it applies to all 49 state EPA regulations meaning it has a cat. The code excludes Commiefornia because of their stricter system in regards of emissions.
Pete M Posted May 20, 2021 Posted May 20, 2021 27 minutes ago, AP_MJ88 said: Ahh bummer, thanks for the reply it will have a cat, but it's a very simple system. the O2 sensor is upstream of the cat so there isn't a way for the truck to actually monitor the cat. a functional cat doesn't affect power at all so there's no need to remove it. but you wouldn't be the first that hollowed out a bad cat and reinstalled it. but that makes it harder to pass the sniffer so... ymmv.

Gotcha I was under the impression it could improve performance albeit *slightly* by removing the cat. Nevermind then I guess I won't worry about it, thanks! Doubt I would've gotten away with it here anyhow
Pete M Posted May 24, 2021 Posted May 24, 2021 it's a persistent myth that probably stems from guys removing bad/clogged cats and finding a power boost. but the factory designs them to not hamper anything. now, if you added a turbo or stroker, I'd step up to a high-flow cat because then you'd then be exceeding the factory specs for airflow.
