Bench seat

So I’m trying to remove a bench seat but the nuts are rusted and seized onto the the seat frame base on the floor. I looked underneath for bolts sticking out which I would cut off to release it, but the underneath is so rusted out I’m not seeing them. Is it possible to remove it without cutting up the frame?

They are studs that are pressed or welded onto the frame. Your best bet is to cut them (or break them) from the top if you can't get them loose.

The are on the outside lip of the unibody except the one (on both sides) that sits up higher than the others.

Thank you, I’ll look underneath again to find them. I was able to get two of the nuts off the rear bracket mounting point that sit higher and on the outside closer to the doors. I’m assuming those are the ones I can’t get to from underneath?

You can't get to any of them from underneath, they are all pressed into the floorpan. Your best bet is to hammer a socket on and break them off then replace them once the seat is pulled up. You could put a bolt through the hole from underneath with a little work so you can take it back out but you can't get around having to break them off up above if they are seized. you can try to soak them with penetrant for a few days first to see if they loosen up, but it's more than likely you'll have to break them and replace them. Just did this last week.

Ok, I’ll give that a try. Most of them are so rusted that the edges of the bolts have crumbled off.

So I was wrong. Took another look while working on the truck today and it turns out there are lock nuts for the two front inbound studs underneath. They are 15mm and the stud is in a threaded insert spot welded into the frame. To get mine to break I hammered a 9/16 impact socket on the rusty nut and then broke it off once it was seated. Pick up a can of Rust buster oil (it's in a little black bottle) or a little coca cola should eat the rust or as above a Nut Buster. Just don't force it...get a bigger hammer.
