Not sure if that's the exact term for it but I want to remove this chrome peice and switch it out with a black one. I'm told it's just screws or bolts holding it in. Anyone know where I can get just a plain black one and also what the chrome is worth?

You’ll need 87-90 Renix ones hat came in a different color. Black ones are a little hard to come by. There may be one of the two as NOS.

I don't even mind if it's a different color then black I could just paint it. But I know a lot of people like the chrome and would hate to have to paint over it

Chrome trim in good shape is a bit tough to find ESPECIALLY around the corner marker lights. I’d try and keep them chrome and sell them if you can.

I imagine shipping those things might be a bit of a challenge.  maybe a super long cardboard tube?  abs tube?

as for a black one, gotta find the yards that have the older Jeeps.  :L:

I shipped a center console before so it wouldn't be to weird. Think I'm just going to paint it though

In order to sucessfully paint those pieces, (which are made from stainless steel, as others have pointed out), you will need to scuff up the surface a bit to get good paint adhesion.   A "Scotch Brite" pad works really well.   Unfortunately, that would make them less valuable if you decide later to sell them.....
