what parts to scrounge from an 84 XJ

Hahahaha I would know best. If it’s a 2.5L, the air cleaner. At least the lid is worth snagging as those are a rare piece. AMC buckles are always worth snagging, the rear hatch should have a small Jeep nameplate that seems to only have been on 84-85 models. Otherwise its mostly the same as any other XJ actually. If I think of something else I’ll edit this post.

The black door handles should be metal also. That was an 84-early 86 thing

Depending on how far you want to go in terms of taking parts, those early wiring harnesses are always worth a snag as those pak-con connectors can’t be found new.

The visor hook is a early style hook commonly found in SJs.

The interior door panels are 84-85 specific from what I am seeing in the catalog but could also go up to 86.

Radio plugs! And radio, if it's not an RX-141. I think the climate control panel has a different font and maybe different connections. The clock, if equipped, is that early 84-86ish style with sweet vacuum fluorescent display.

I was thinking the climate control too but you can’t install them in our trucks unless you have an 86 MJ. The AC control deck has a different fan switch plug and vac plug on the back. But that doesn’t mean you still can’t snag it. I actually have one of those AC decks as NOS.

not sure how to ship that to ya for an affordable price, but I'll keep that in mind if I can get back there.  :L:

Flat rate boxes are your friend! Since we are part of the states all flat rate boxes ship for the same price as conus. That’s how I’m able to ship the new switch trim covers out to everyone also for next to nothing. Takes about 5-7 days

yes, but does a knuckle fit in that box?

I have a handful (boxes, not knuckles) right next to me right now and I'd say probably. As long as you can close the box, you're good :))

edit: Hmm, judging by the replies above me CC is well versed in knuckles in USPS flat rate boxes :peep:
