Oscar Posted August 9, 2020 Posted August 9, 2020 I did a cluster swap from lights to gauges and was wondering what wire I need to use for the temp sensor since the new one doesn’t plug in. I have a 2.5 motor
eaglescout526 Posted August 9, 2020 Posted August 9, 2020 What? The temp sender is at the rear of the head top side. There's two styles a sender and a sensor. Sensor is for the gauge which you need and it uses the same plug as the sender did. Should be a really easy swap to do but youll lose coolant. Did you buy the coolant temp sensor for the ECU that goes into the side of the manifold?
schardein Posted August 9, 2020 Posted August 9, 2020 The Temp Sensor changed to a design that used a specific connector sometime around 1993 (in the XJs, of course). Oscar, what year is your MJ? What year did the new cluster come from? What year for the sensor? Here are pics of a temp sensor connector from a 93 XJ. I have another one if you are interested in buying it and splicing it onto your existing wire. EDIT: THIS IS FOR A 4.0, I'M NOT SURE IF A 2.5 IS THE SAME.
