Carpet removal

Alright so seeing I'm mid proccess of getting a bench seat in my truck i don't have the seats or center console in right now. As from what i can see under the carpert is mostly rust free besides a couple spots. Id like to take the carpet out and coat those fiew spots to avoid rot. How do i take the carpet out though?

 I removed my seat, all the interior trim, shift bezel on the tunnel and I had to remove my seat belt studs. Then it's just molded in there

It would be a good time to add a sound and heat dampener too, something like dynomat. I'm on a tight budget so I used duct insulation

Alright thank you. Ill definitely look into putting sheeting down also.

I recently used this product to add some sound deadening and heat shield to my cab. Very good price compared to Dynamat, Fatmat etc, and has good reviews. Noticeable difference to me on sound reduction.

Once you have it all out, do NOT replace anything until you have found the source of the water that caused that rust.

Removing the carpet is pretty much a case of taking out all of the interior trim that touches it. Also, the gas pedal. Once everything that pinches it down is gone, it just lifts out.

 

If a job's worth doing, it's worth overdoing - mass-backed carpet over mass-loaded vinyl over nonabsorbent closed cell foam over Dynamat in areas where water cannot reach. Road noise is practically extinct within the confines of this vehicle. Everything below the glass is covered in at least one layer of 1lb/sqft MLV.

 

Fix your water leak first and THOROUGHLY pressure test the cab for any form of leakage before you even think about putting it back together.

I don't think water is even getting in really the only rusty spots i saw were very little amounts under the seat studs

One box might do it. I ended up buying a second box when I thought I had run out, and of course after digging in to the second box I found 3 sheets (IIRC) that got separated from the first box. I covered the ceiling, inside the door panels, floor, back wall and partially inside the B-pillars. Noico also has the closed cell foam Minuit talked about if you want that too.

Bump on this...which size boxes and mil thickness did you get? 

 

Edit:  Just clicked the amazon link.  Does it stick pretty well to the surface after a fresh coat of paint?
