This is a level many of us aspire to get to with our MJs.

It's interesting to see that level of preservation and I totally respect what that takes.  But for me the real joy is getting your vehicle out on the road and/or the trails and driving it.

I'd much rather have a restomod 71 Chevelle with a well built modern drivetrain than a factory original SS with the LS6 454.  I'd drool over the factory original at the car show but let someone else keep it like that.

I don't even lust after original cars anymore. I want to save those for the guys who enjoy that. My drooling is clean no rust shells!

I think the desire for all original cars comes from back in the day when it was hard to bring a car back from being hacked up. When my Dad and I was looking for my first car that is all he would look at, and I get it. Back when 100k miles was a death sentence for a car. Now I don't even really care about mileage, just if it is going to make me do a lot of work on it.

Bear in mind, this was a full-on restoration, not a hardly-touched unicorn. So someone (or multiple someone's) certainly got their use and enjoyment from this car. It may never be your 'cup of tea,' but I see the next-level restoration effort the man made to this car. It is a museum piece, and deserves to not be driven around as a DD anymore.

I agree that it's an impressive body of work.  It does belong in a museum.  Totally respect the effort that went into it.

It's just not what I'd do with my MJs.

these reasons are why it's important to own multiple MJs. :D  I certainly wouldn't want my only MJ to be a show queen.

Now that is a good selling point for getting a long bed

I absolutely love full restorations, but just so you can restart the clock on enjoying whatever you got.

While I am actually enthralled with this TE27 I agree with you. I would love a pristine comanche (or hell even a "nice" one), but only so I could pretend it was new. Will it ever happen? Probably not with this one =P
