Military special order Comanches/Jeeps

Recommended Posts

Note: if this is the wrong place to put this, feel free to move it. I wasn’t sure where it should go.

Hey all, as I was scrolling through the Registry, I couldn’t find another MJ that had been ordered via the Jeep/Eagle/AMC/Chrysler  Overseas Military sales. So, I was wondering how many of the MJs out there were. Could they be rarer than the diesels? ;) If you have an XJ or Wagoneer or Other jeep product feel free to put it down there too, I’d love to see it as well.

Also included is a picture of the header for the papers that document the delivery/payment process. It also is on the one that finalizes the options that are to be included on the vehicle.

I think @SVPete did. Add yourself to the original owners thread, sounds like you are one.

I am not the original owner, I bought the truck from the original owner, he kept most of the paperwork when he bought it, and it was passed down to me. I can see why you would think that seeing all the paperwork and all. Although, if I was the original owner, it'd definitely have A/C. ;)

Read the original owners thread, SVPete wrote how he acquired his MJ.

He said he ordered it though the mail. That's actually kind of cool, my grandfather was stationed there back in Vietnam (1967?-1968) under his national guard unit being activated. I think I have the paper where he wrote everything down that he wanted (If so, there was a cheat-sheet to go off of) in the little folder where I have a lot of the (presumably dealer) paperwork, such as the application for a temporary tag for the state of Arizona, I don't believe it was ever filled out...

My wife and I ordered our Comanche through AMC Overseas Military Cars sales located at the PX in Yongsan Garrison, Republic of Korea (Seoul, South Korea). It was like a mini dealership with display models only, no on hand stock. You had to order and if you were eligible, they would ship the vehicle over for you (which we were). You could also order, and your new car would be waiting for you upon your return to the U.S.

Huh. Never knew you could have it shipped over. I’m pretty sure he didn’t, as he picked it up at the dealer, I’m guessing after he returned. That paper is set up the exact same way as the ones I have, it just has AMC on the top, not the Jeep/Eagle logo.

can you guys get some better pics or scans of the paperwork? :L:   I can't quite read it :(

Here’s some that I took a while ago. I just left on a vacation so I won’t be able to get some better one’s until Tuesday.

It really is. Mine has rat damage, so I’ll either scan it and digitally correct it, or I’ll have someone see if they can’t correct the damage. I’ll probably go for the former over the latter, and have the original for originality’s sake. I’m more surprised that the temporary tag registration or the tire warranty papers weren’t tossed.

There’s one other MJ here on Guam that is badly rusted. I have yet to meet the owner but from what I’ve heard, it was a military order vehicle. At the time, there was no Jeep dealership on island and it wasn’t a personal import

I’ll have to go on the map and see if they’re on there and shoot them a message.
