Okay did the swap. What I'm having problems is with the shift indicator cable. It seems like it is to long. I have the clip on the notch on the steering column. I put it in low 1 then it moves just a little from park.It is the same cable as before. Any ideas?

I moved your post to Tech so more eyeballs would see it.  :L:

It's been a while since I messed with mine, but I think you just adjust the location of the clip (at the end of the cable) on the steering column edge.  Adjust it to get the most accurate readings from all gears.  The length of the cable probably varies slightly from part to part.  The exact placement of the gauge cluster in relation to the steering column probably varies very slightly also.  So some adjustment is to be expected, I think.

Not sure if any of the following will help or not. I just did a google search for "site:comancheclub.com shift indicator" and am posting the top four results. You might try variations on my search to see if you can narrow it down. In case you didn't know, the "site:comancheclub.com" part limits all results to that domain. So everything will come as links to this site. Super handy to avoid the spam crap thats out there.

Good luck!

The indicator cable and clip can be clipped onto the steering column collar at any position.  You simply adjust it until it reflects correctly.

How do you adjust the cable? I have done this swap. All I have is the cable and clip. I can't figure out how to adjust it.

how about some pictures of your setup, its a lot easier to help with some kind of visual

With the shifter in park take the clip and pull it so the needles on park, clip onto collar. To check it put shifter in first and see if it lines up if not make the necessary adjustments. There is no other adjustment for this.

I put another one in. It looks the same except it was not fraying. It seems like the cable is to long. The only selection I can get is low 2 and then the needle finally moves to park. That's what confuses me. I don't see how you can adjust this. Has anyone have an extra laying around? Would like to see another one and measure it.

Thanks,

Guy

The way I routed it was through the square slot on the cluster and then to the clip "holder" on the column. Is that correct?

Yes, I was thinking on the unit itself.
