benjy_26 Posted June 14, 2020 Posted June 14, 2020 Hello all. My MJ recently developed a condition in which the passanger side rear turn sign does not flash when I have the brake pedal pressed down. I've cleaned the light harness connector near the airbox but the problem persists. Does anyone know where the tail lights ground to the body? Is it the same location as the fuel pump ground? Thanks a bunch!
jdog Posted June 14, 2020 Posted June 14, 2020 Does it flash if your not on the brakes, do the brake lights and running lights work? Stupid question what bulbs are in it

Stupid question what bulbs are in it Brake and running lights work and the turn signals both work if I don't press down the brake pedal. When I press the brake pedal, the right turn signal does not flash. I have 1107's (I think) in it. New-ish sylvania bulbs.

Ωhm Posted June 14, 2020 Posted June 14, 2020 I'm not sure about this but its easy enough to try: KEY OFF. Depress brake pedal. Using T/S SW set to RH side, can you turn OFF the RH rear bulbs? Try same thing for the LH side.

Turn signal to the right: All 4 lights come on. Turn signal to the left: Only right hand side lights come on. Brakes not pressed (key on): Turn signal right: right hand side flashes Turn signal to the left: Left side flashing

Each B+ feed is determined by the position of the T/S SW. You either have a faulty T/S SW or the Brake SW B+ feed is shorted to the RH side STOP/TURN circuit. I'll keep looking to see if there's anyway to prove out one or the other.

Ωhm Posted June 14, 2020 Posted June 14, 2020 Disconnect C156. KEY OFF. DO NOT depress brake pedel. On the IP Harness side measure for continuity between C156_N and C156_P. If NO continuity exist suspect T/S SW, wires or connector on the steering column. If continuity does exist wires are shorted within the IP Harness.
benjy_26 Posted June 14, 2020 Author Posted June 14, 2020 Nice. I'll get on it. Now..what does IP stand for?

I'll be replacing the multifunction switch either today or tomorrow.
