MelB Posted April 10, 2020 Posted April 10, 2020 I am about to buy my first Comanche and it has bucket seats, however I much prefer the old skool look of a bench seat. Is it an easy thing to swap out?
88towmanche Posted April 10, 2020 Posted April 10, 2020 What color buckets? I have an excellent condition bench (blue) in my MJ - and would like to swap to buckets. If you are close to the Seattle area (freight would be cost prohibitive) and the buckets are in decent shape, happy to trade. Far as I know, they would bolt right in.
derf Posted April 10, 2020 Posted April 10, 2020 I shipped a bench seat with Greyhound for a very reasonable price a few years back. You have to drop off and pick up at the bus station but it's a lot cheaper than you might think.

Pete M Posted April 10, 2020 Posted April 10, 2020 the hardest parts of the swap are the seatbelt differences and the fact that most MJs with a bench didn't have headrests. Be very picky and get a late model that has headrests. or better yet, the link in my signature has a thread about using the late 90s dakota bench which is way more comfortable. but requires more effort to install

jdog Posted May 5, 2020 Posted May 5, 2020 How much effort to put 2dr xj buckets into a Comanche with bench seats You need to change the floor brackets. There's a member on here that makes the brackets.
Comanche1 Posted May 6, 2020 Posted May 6, 2020 Hey Eagle. Done your swap. I have a mint bench. Could use your buckets

BUT if your buckets seats have the rocker bases (curved) that complicates things a bit. if your bench seat's floor brackets are rusted and toast, Brandon makes sells replacements:
Pete M Posted May 6, 2020 Posted May 6, 2020 also, the buckets will have female seatbelts that have a sheath that holds them up.
