Pete M
I fixed a leaky tire for my cousin yesterday that I didn't know was a problem until I got there, but that's an easy one since lots of people carry repair kits and floor jacks and impact guns. or maybe they don't. they should. I also carry a bag just for doing brakes because, yes, I've arrived at someone's house and in conversation they complained of brake squeal and I ended up doing their pads. a bit more of the specialty tools, but that's why I have them if I need them. same with minor drywall repairs. or plumbing. or electrical work. but the other day I found these on the bottom of the dealership sign and yes, by chance, I had the proper tool. (I forgot to add a quarter for scale, but believe me, those are friggin' giant flathead screws! the bit goes on a half-inch socket)
thecodemonk
Do you usually keep them all behind the seat?Sent from my Pixel 4 using Tapatalk
Pete M
It would never all fit in the cab of the MJ, but this is my KJ. Heaviest stuff is usually in the back seat's footwells. small bags/boxes in the very rear. large bags in the back seat. It's a work rig more than anything else these days, but I like to be prepared for anything.

Ωhm
Do you carry so much as to affect gas mileage? Especially your highway mileage.
Pete M
the diesel still gives me decent numbers. the overall weight isn't much different than permanently having passengers. 26 minutes ago, thecodemonk said: Were you a scout per chance? MiNi Beast
I'm the same way, always carry more tools then i really need but glad i do when i need them. Over the years ive learned what i really need to keep on hand. Have basically just keep basics and then add specific tools 🔧 for certain repairs when i plan to go out to play. mjeff87
You'd be surprised (or maybe not, lol) just how handy a hi-lift Jack comes in handy for ALL sorts of things. I don't wheel anymore but I still carry a 48" one in the KJ. I think I've used it for more stuff now than I ever did on the trail.
Pete M
that's one thing I've so far resisted adding to the KJ's collection. maybe once I build a real roof basket I'll run out of reasons to not install mine.
