Andy in Pa Posted April 2, 2020 Posted April 2, 2020 Hey all, I am looking for a bit of help setting up the factory fog light switch / wiring. I have the switch, plug and all on the dash, and am trying to find the relay for it. I am assuming the plugs for the lights are under the front end too, but have not gone in search of them yet. I do not see the physical relay on any of the wiring diagrams from the FSM. It shows the wiring/plugs going to the actual fog lights, but no relay. The fan control relay is shown though. The fog light relay is shown on the schematics I have from the FSM. Besides the switch on the dash being plugged in, nothing else is hooked up yet. Any idea where this relay is located?
fiatslug87 Posted April 2, 2020 Posted April 2, 2020 The relay is next to the hood latch on the driver's side, thing with the pink writing in my pic. Did you add the switch? Not all MJs came with the front wiring harness for fog lights, however all have the dash wiring.
Crash Posted April 3, 2020 Posted April 3, 2020 I just used a pre made wiring harness, and used a factory switch.
eaglescout526 Posted April 3, 2020 Posted April 3, 2020 Hella has a wiring kit included with their lights. All you’ll need to do is just wire in the factory switch at the headlight harness.

I was just hoping it was not somehow behind the headlight or along the front of the rad support or something. No worries setting up the fog lights, I was just attempting to use factory parts if they existed on my MJ. I have the lighted factory switch and the harness at the dash, so I will be setting it up using them. I built a relay circuit for my electric fan control as well. I have it on a factory lighted switch, and can turn it on whenever things get too hot under the hood.. If it needs to come on automatically, the relay will override the switch and run it as well.
silvertwinkiehobo Posted April 16, 2020 Posted April 16, 2020 Maveric and I went to the J/Y today, we got the switch, but in order for me to build a harness (I'm not paying money for something I can build), I need the wiring diagram. The Chilton Online i have access to did not have any specific diagrams for any of the accessories. I could muddle through on finding the connectors, but if anyone can help or point me in the correct direction on here, Joe and I'd be most appreciative.
silvertwinkiehobo Posted May 15, 2020 Posted May 15, 2020 Yes, thank you. That has exactly the correct wiring setup and wire colors. That, is what every owner needs. So once again, thank you.
silvertwinkiehobo Posted May 16, 2020 Posted May 16, 2020 Got it all installed, hooked up, and found out the relay was dead. Plugged a replacement one in, and the lights worked.
