WahooSteeler Posted March 22, 2020 Posted March 22, 2020 I know many of you have removed your worn out pre-heater hose from your exhaust manifold to your airbox due to deterioration. And I have not really seen anyone yet with a long lasting viable replacement of the factory hose, so my question is, has anybody plugged and/or capped the connector coming off the exhaust manifold?

Its not open to the exhaust. The "pipe" you see coming off the manifold is just formed by thin metal wrapped around the exhaust header. I guess you could cut it off if you really think it would be a problem....

True..........just annoying and a bit OCD I guess.
JustEmptyEveryPocket Posted March 22, 2020 Posted March 22, 2020 Well. then to satisfy the OCD, why not cut a circle out of thin metal and weld it in? Little grinding, little high temp paint. Could look really nice.
omega_rugal Posted March 23, 2020 Posted March 23, 2020 it´s just a jacket, it forces air to come in contact with the hot manifold and sends it to the air box, this is not exhaust gasses... i use it to heat air, suck that air throught the LPG vaporizer and then send that air to the manifold...

Big Dan Posted March 24, 2020 Posted March 24, 2020 I bought a hose from McMaster-Carr. I think it was 2.5in ID. One of their blue crush resistant duct hoses.

Big Dan Posted March 24, 2020 Posted March 24, 2020 I had no issues. I'll get the, exact, ID of the duct tomorrow. But, I'm pretty sure it was 2.5 inch. Sent from my Pixel 2 XL using Tapatalk

Big Dan Posted March 24, 2020 Posted March 24, 2020 I used this one. I had it on my 86 for about 2 years, before I sold it, without any issues. Sent from my Pixel 2 XL using Tapatalk
