Jon Posted November 28, 2019 Posted November 28, 2019 Hello Jeep people. Just finished tossing together some lift components into the manche. i'm not in love with what seems like a reverse rake or "california lean" after the install. I'm looking for advice as to what to do to fix it. i prefer a level body or a slight rake. the lift setup is 4.5 coils with 1.75 spacers up front, and SOA on 2wd leafs on the back. i could remove the spacers but i don't know if that would make the rake too aggressive. any advice appreciated!
ComancheKid45 Posted November 28, 2019 Posted November 28, 2019 Remove the spacers, that's an easy task to reverse if it doesn't work like ya want.
yxmj Posted November 28, 2019 Posted November 28, 2019 Stock MJ or XJ coil spring isolators are 5/8” ……remove the 1.75” as said above…. if that is too much rake, pop in a stock set. That way you are only dropping 1 1/8”……see if that levels it out….you can stack them in 5/8” increments if you want more
Eagle Posted November 28, 2019 Posted November 28, 2019 There are also 1-inch (or 3/4-inch) coil spacers available from Daystar and other sources. A set of those would drop your front 1 inch, which should be just about right.
Jon Posted November 29, 2019 Author Posted November 29, 2019 Thank you guys. I’ll start by removing the spacers and we‘ll see how it goes!
WahooSteeler Posted November 29, 2019 Posted November 29, 2019 Or..........shackles in the back or 4wd leafs to get @1" lift and maybe level it?
mjben Posted November 29, 2019 Posted November 29, 2019 I'll go another direction... Looks like a HD front bumper with a winch would level it out nicely.
Jon Posted November 29, 2019 Author Posted November 29, 2019 Mjben you bring up a good point. I have a bumper and winch that I’ll be installing. I don’t know how much that weight will lower the front.
dasbulliwagen Posted December 6, 2019 Posted December 6, 2019 And if your front springs are new, they will settle slightly over time. I put the 5.5 RE springs on the front of mine a year ago, and the front has settled slightly since. Maybe 1/2-3/4". And it has always had a lean to the left, so I put double spring isolators on the driver side to compensate. It seems to have done the trick! Like was said, install the front bumper and winch before tearing it down again. If its still too high, I personally would do shackles in the rear before trying to take the front apart again.
Jon Posted December 8, 2019 Author Posted December 8, 2019 I'm throwing on the bumper right now, (with periodic breaks to go inside and warm up). We'll see how it looks with the weight on the front! Thanks again for everyone's help.
