LTZ_3 Posted September 16, 2019 Posted September 16, 2019 I went for a drive last night in the 86 comanche and noticed that I don't have any guage lights. Checked all bulbs and replaced them still no lights, checked fuses they are good. Replaced the headlight switch. Not sure what else to try. Any suggestions?
BeaterComanche86 Posted September 16, 2019 Posted September 16, 2019 You could check the ground under the dash, have you went through cruisers tips? http://cruiser54.com/
Eagle Posted September 17, 2019 Posted September 17, 2019 Did you rotate the headlight switch? It's a rotary dimmer.

TexanEliminator Posted September 18, 2019 Posted September 18, 2019 Check your tail light fuse. While installing my cruise control stalk with the battery connected, I somehow blew the fuse. The next morning I had no dash lights or tail lights. I guess it is some kind of a fail safe to let you know that your tail lights are not working.
LTZ_3 Posted September 20, 2019 Author Posted September 20, 2019 I have rotated the headlight switch still no lights on gauges. I checked all fuses, taillights. I have yet to check ground under the dash planning on doing that tomorrow. If the ground is ok under the dash. Could I have a bad headlight switch plug in. If so can I steal one from any XJ or MJ. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
BeaterComanche86 Posted September 20, 2019 Posted September 20, 2019 Did you check to see if the headlight switch plug was melted when replacing the switch? Mine was melted slightly and was the source of my gauge light issues. If that’s the issue the plugs are pretty cheap so I’d buy new. Also look into adding a relay harness to the headlights as it will reduce amperage going to your switch and reduce the likelihood of it melting or your truck catching fire.
Ωhm Posted September 20, 2019 Posted September 20, 2019 Does your Heater/AC panel lamp work? Can you dim it? Do you have a factory Radio, if so, does your Radio Display Backlighting lamps work? Can you dim them? Do you have a Automatic Transmission, if so, does your PRNDL lamp work? Can you dim it?
LTZ_3 Posted September 20, 2019 Author Posted September 20, 2019 I can't dim anything. But i did check the plug and its melted a bit. So gonna replace the plug.
LTZ_3 Posted September 30, 2019 Author Posted September 30, 2019 So I finally got the time to change the harness out and to update all my grounds and the headlight harness. Wouldnt you know it but dash lights door lights all lights finally work. Thanks all for the tips.
