Interior Color?

Recommended Posts

You might take the number off the top of this can to a decent auto supply/paint shop.

You're looking at a 25+ year old color/code. There's a parts place local to me that has a good paint shop.  They matched

my '01 XJ's paint perfectly.  Another shot of this can from the other thread reads "for plastic and vinyl", so it should do the trick.

There are seven dealers in the U.S. that still have that antique. I may have to order one now

Thanks for the info NH, I might be doing that.

Eagle, how did you find it, I'm not well versed in internet searching apparently.

My other option is to spend 50 at team cherokee and get a new one, and be done with it... but I'm not 100% my color is "charcoal" as described on the team cherokee site.

Yes, that interior color is called Charcoal, even though it doesn't really look anything like charcoal, but anyway. There are two types of armrest used for the grey interiors. The Limited trim got a dark blue version, and everyone else got the one you have. Here's the Limited trim version in my truck:

And the other version:

Yours look a little more discolored than most, but I don't think they'll ever perfectly match the interior. The Team Cherokee ones should be NOS, so they're as good as you're likely to find. Those armrests are pretty common, and you shouldn't have any trouble finding a pair in the understandable case that you don't want to do business with Team Cherokee.

For the very same reason you have a cover over your steering wheel..........those parts gum up over time. I have no idea how you guys are dealing with that,  especially if you are painting over the gum. I tried cleaning to no avail. Mine went the way of........well........they just went away.

Thank you Minuit, just what I was looking for, really appreciate it!

You guys are great here.  This is my first MJ so I'm going to try to limit my questions and not annoy y'all too much lol.

Think I'm just going to go ahead and 2 get from team cherokee for $80.  So they'll match on both sides.  Out of curiosity, whats the deal with the dislike?  Seen it a few times?

Some people get lucky and never have any trouble with them. Some have a lot of trouble. Also, their customer service is kind of crap and they take forever to ship. They do have a lot of rare parts that you can't find anywhere else, so if you want the part you don't really have a choice but to deal with them. Don't believe anything you read on the ads either.

I put a set of the darker ones off a Limited in my XJ.  I may have the original lighter ones laying around if you are interested.  Let me know and I could get pics.

I already ordered a new pair from the teamcherokee site, really appreciate the offer though!

Ahh, gotcha.  This was actually my second order with them.  The first time I ordered a set of door gaskets/seals, a lot of them, like 300 bucks worth.  Then the deal fell through for the MJ I was buying that night.  So I texted, emailed, called trying to cancel order.  No response.  I get package and email them again this time threatening to get paypal/amex involved since I tried to cancel within 24 hours and never got a response.  I said I'm fine with paying return shipping but not the 20% re-stocking fee.  Later that day I get an apology email and a pre-paid return label and no re-stocking fee.  So, while it was a bit off putting at first, they ultimately treated me more than fair with picking up the shipping tab.  So I can see where service is definitely lacking, but in the end they did right.

Here's another example for you.

A couple of years ago I ordered a NOS A/C evaporator from them. I specifically wanted a factory part because I wanted to keep the factory temperature probe, and as far as I know no aftermarket option lets you keep it. I have a troubled at best history with aftermarket parts, and the A/C evaporator is not something you want to replace twice. The ad claimed it was a factory "heavy duty" model and the picture showed a foam bulkhead gasket, which I also needed. Besides, it helps me sleep easier knowing that the thing that's going to be holding 90+ psi of refrigerant right behind my dash isn't a cheap piece of garbage.

After 7 days and an email or two asking what was taking so long, it finally ships. When I get it, there's no gasket. Okay, I guess I should've known it was too good to be true. When I go to install it, it's a perfect mirror image of my original! The end result is that the expansion valve and pipes are set about an inch away from where they "should be". After a little looking, I'm all but sure it was a right-hand drive evaporator. The part number they listed was the exact match for a LHD evaporator from the '91 parts catalog, so that's not even a lie of omission. They're just straight up wrong. Also, it was no heavier duty than my original. It was exactly the same, but a mirror image. I tried, but I could not find a Mopar number for any kind of "heavy duty" evaporator for '91. Ok, that's three things wrong on their ad.

Anyway, it turns out that the evaporator fits well enough despite not being the right part (it's still in my truck and doing well). The price was reasonable for a Mopar A/C evaporator, but they sure didn't make themselves easy to recommend in the process. Luckily for me (and them) the part was close enough to fit with some fiddling, but that was pure luck. Moral of the story: Be wary when ordering from Team Cherokee and do your own research beforehand.

That's a lot of words for nothing. Geez.

Yeah, that would bother me.  Lacking support is one thing, wrong parts and misleading advertisements is a whole different issue.  I'll be sure to be very careful what I order and inspect it well, thanks.
