eaglescout526
So yesterday I went to replace my injector O-rings and upon replacement of injector and it retainer this happened: All I really have to say is this sucks! I did try a few ideas to remove the broken screw but clearly got no where. If anyone has an idea on how to remove such I would love to be enlightened. If not I plan to hopefully source a used throttle body. On the brighter side Little Red does still run and drive with one broken retainer screw and replacing the O-rings improved throttle and driving response. It's not imperative to fix, just very very annoying to know this happened and currently sits like this.
Dzimm
You could use a Dremel and cut a slot in it to get a flathead on it maybe. Otherwise it looks like a drill and tap scenario if you are going to fix it.
eaglescout526
I just might try the dremel idea! Did not think of that!

And to a brand new never-to-be-found-again NOS TBI. Do not even attempt from the truck, remove the TBI and take it to a bench. You'll have to tap to the next size screw.......I don't remember what it is. Those bars that hold the injector in place are also the tubes that supply fuel to the injector, drill too far and you are SOL. You'll have to make your own screws.......you'll never find the originals. Pretend you are performing brain surgery.........you don't want to F this up. I actually have been really avoiding the drilling route for said reason about the fuel tubes. I think I'm gonna go for the Dremel route and just tap a size up if I cannot find a screw that will fit. In the mean time she runs and drives fine, so its a no rush deal. I do appreciate the how to and what not to do Shame you had to do that to a NOS body, what luck. kryptronic
I'd recommend trying a reverse drill bit and extractor to attempt removal before drilling all the way through and retapping.
eaglescout526
Well is been a month since I asked about this. I decided the Dremel route and honestly that is a lot better of an idea than the drill bit without sacrificing too much metal of the body. I swapped T-bodies anyways and the old one just sat on the back burner for a while. But here it is only a drill attempt and cut off wheel damage: Could be worse. Did not have to tap for a size up, and it's hidden by the retainer.
