So I have an awesome wife who bought me a new tool box for my birthday/father's day. I finally got around to putting drawer liners in it today.

I bought the liner from Amazon. The roll was 30' long do I had some extra. I decided to make mats for my console and the cubby in the passenger side dash.

I think this should definitely help with stuff sliding around. Had extra so I figure it can't hurt!

Replaced the drivers door check strap today. Had to weld the door back together. It was cracked there the check strap mounts. I used a dorman check strap I found on eBay for $23.

It definitely has been abused!

Old and new. Well spent $23.

So still fighting a random water leak. Sometimes when it rains it leaks sometimes it's dry. I did find the antenna cable wasn't fully seated. I got it seated and put some extra strip caulk on it tonight. I also installed s new hood seal. My old one was cracking and falling apart. I also resealed the cowl where the factory seam sealer was falling off.

IMG_20190725_184227334.jpg.3462ab427252da35a1af473760bbb952.jpg

I'm sure this wasn't sealing.

IMG_20190725_190935739.jpg.4ede1967ac50c4dc64f420d4dcdd7638.jpg

The factory seam sealer was just falling off. The passenger side was almost completely gone.

This looks better than the crumbling OEM white stuff also.

EBay $15 and it fits awesome.

I believe the new one will actually seal something. The old one was cracked and spray painted. It can't hurt!

Found a NOS manual trans TPS. Got 2 oxygen sensor from eBay. I also found a junk yard that just got in a small blocked 86. I was able to get the taillights and fender emblems. Car-Part.com app is awesome. I know have a TPS, 2 CPS, and 2 oxygen sensors all NOS. I believe I should be able to keep her going for quite a while now.

The addiction strikes again.

Until I got these I didn't know the 86 had its own fender emblems.

USPS showed up with my new door speakers today. When I had the door panel of to replace the check strap I realized the door speakers were shot. I ordered Rockford Fosgate speakers and am very happy with them. The PO had installed new speakers in the b Piller but didn't touch the door speakers. I also installed speaker baffels with the new speakers. It definitely sounds a ton better no more distortion.

IMG_20190803_102649759.jpg.dcccbae3aac3e5aebcc8cc68f913198f.jpg

Speakers, baffles, & connectors.

IMG_20190803_140233939.jpg.d960cb017d34650135d6e858b30bf9d2.jpg

The factory speakers were definitely game over! I am confused how they worked at all.

IMG_20190803_132928353.jpg.d4d09814d5fafff271ff7ff4d82ebb92.jpg

I have never used the baffles before but I would definitely use them again. If nothing else it will keep the speaker dry.

IMG_20190803_140252976.jpg.6f55dbfde4256f770f668adfc3c6e757.jpg

Trimmed down so they fit better.

IMG_20190803_133725885.jpg.b34b884cf9cc17dc7c1293722e9bfffc.jpg

I trimmed the excess off and it all fits well. Forgot final pics. These fit awesome I would definitely recommend them.

It's definitely sounds better! And I love this song!

Mine don't rattle the door to bad I think the baffles help with that. Sure does sound good though.

I will say they do help. I snagged some NOS door protectors that have the built in baffles and they did bring down the vibrations.

When I'm finally able to attend to my newest MJ, I'll be referencing this thread a lot :D   all those same bits of rubber and plastic need replacing :(

That was my hope work this build. I try hard to make sure I list the part numbers. With a part number and Google anything is possible. I actually enjoy the hunting for parts. I believe that come from being a parts guy for 20 years. The internet had definitely helped with parts hunting.

I had a little more time today and the mirrors were next on the list of things bothering me. They were both mostly gray at this point. The factory paint was just fading away. I sanded the heavy pits with 320 and Scotch Brite for the rest. Taped them off and a few coats of Rust-Oleum 2X and all better.

IMG_20190803_195657444.jpg.3447c26d057f25cbebace300418b0e88.jpg

Passenger motor was the better of the two. You can see the gray peaking though on the top.

IMG_20190803_195646542.jpg.f841e0b3deaa6b33e3145c9f080fea5e.jpg

Not much paint left after sanding.

IMG_20190803_214911475.jpg.ba6395cc123db497a29fb14c8fa5686f.jpg

All pretty and black.

Sorry the pictures suck, I will try again tomorrow in the daylight. I promise there is a mirror there.

I had always had a pop in my front suspension. It was there when I bought it and still there after the new lift and trac bar. The trac bar ball joint never seemed to seat correctly. So I finally decided to do away with the factory mount and ball joint trac bar end. I bought the kit from Rusty's beacuse I have their trac bar.

IMG_20190810_093202166.jpg.a23b3ff788e912078f35c44ab66d7461.jpg

The factory mount.

IMG_20190811_175231907.jpg.9abe3250e46163d385ef99c951e11591.jpg

The new replacement.

IMG_20190810_100933585.jpg.03c34e38ee864282a698e2b375cfe8a1.jpg

The new mount is definitely thicker.

IMG_20190810_105217710.jpg.a169e6ce83e326cbc33d4bf2c20fa6ba.jpg

The good part is the front end pop is gone! After a good inspection the factory mount had been hammered on so much the hole wasn't round anymore.

Today was I hate rust day! Spent the better part of today removing body rust. Happy to find out my cab corner is actually in ok shape. Down to bare metal the POR-15. Final cover with Rust-Oleum 2X for now. Not trying to make it pretty just show down the deterioration.

IMG_20190831_160829629.jpg.cbe89243df17aed56d4ec588ce114a94.jpg

This looked horrible. I think I can keep them and just do rockers.

IMG_20190831_180031546.jpg.583273ea24706e9b609f8d255ed58d76.jpg

Doesn't look too bad in POR-15.

IMG_20190831_160840851.jpg.4fe10adc29f745eecbe33058ef62541d.jpg

The bed is going to need some large panels replaced.

IMG_20190831_180039247.jpg.1c28870f849b0bc3161cdb53caf19b9b.jpg

Trying to keep what's left there to weld to later.

IMG_20190831_160849340.jpg.6f433e72dd2418bca5b6aa6f0602f8a7.jpg

This bed corner is trashed.

IMG_20190831_180052946.jpg.abb99ccae058ec92e405c4edf53e453f.jpg

Looks a ton better in black again!

She's no beauty queen but I like it that way. I don't feel bad driving it! Off to sand the POR-15 and paint spray on some paint.

Perfect weather for painting. About 70 out and I love it.IMG_20190831_221037763.jpg.34042d621b278bc78ffcb0d75174dce2.jpg

Not to bad for a few hours and a couple cans of spray paint.

Cab corner looks good now for rocker panels.

Still super ugly but hopefully it will stay around a little longer.

Mangled but black not rust. We will see how it looks tomorrow after full dry time.

Took the old girl to meet Dzimm and Pete today. It was awesome to talk Jeeps with Jeep people. This was the longest trip I have made in her since I bought her. The trip was awesome! The old girl drivers awesome on the interstate. Did 65 to 75 MPH with not a bit of shake in the steering wheel. It was about 150 miles round trip. I also rolled past 111111 miles on the odometer. What a great day!
