Lower rear quarter armor

Has anyone tried to modify the XJ armor to fit the Comanche? What issues would you run up against?

I don't think it's long enough.

Too short like Pete said and the bed curves around while the XJ is a 90* corner.  I think the XJ lower may even be a little shorter in height.

I may give it a try to see what I can make of it since it appears no one has tried it. I will post pics if I do.

I have armor from the SmittyBilt bumper I had on my XJ that I never installed.  I'll see if I can mock it up on my '89 and get you pictures / feedback?

Buy the armor from dirtbound off-road.  They make it for the comanche and a nice rear bumper too.  Not too spendy either.

I know a guy that has that armor plus the entire bedsides for a  SWB that is currently For Sale. 

 

Already powder coated. 

 

Even has matching fronts.

Ha! I just want the lower quarter. It will help hide where some “knucklehead” bumped it.  ;)

That is sorta how my whole thing started.  

Had a kid where I coach in the evenings "lightly sideswipe" my driver's rear from the flare back.

So Pete had the correct answer in a nut shell. They are too short. Otherwise they fit perfectly.
