NC Tom
Potentially dumb question here. These 1990 XJ seats will fit as long as I do the bracket swap from my bench, correct?
Minuit
Yes, but you'll have to swap the seats onto the MJ floor pedestals as you know. Are those the "rocking chair" style of seats? They kinda look like it.

They kinda look like it. You're talking about the part that actually bolts to the floor? That is shown in the pic as xj? Just making sure cuz theres a lot of confusion about my mj seat brackets and what they work with Sent from my SM-G892A using Tapatalk
Minuit
The floor pedestal is what I call the thing that connects the seat to the floor pan. Those are XJ "rocking chair" floor pedestals. I can tell because the legs are very short and there is no "hump" on the front. He just needs to remove the butt cushions, and transfer his seats over to a set of MJ bucket seat pedestals, or converted bench pedestals.
krustyballer16
Gotcha. They're the seats with the "curved" track. But all he has to do is swap to mj "pedestals" right Sent from my SM-G892A using Tapatalk
Minuit
Yeah. The curved track mechanism is part of the floor pedestal. He'll lose that feature when he swaps to the MJ floor pedestal.

schardein
"Rocking" floor pedestals have a large "paddle" handle to control the rocking adjustment.

Confirmed today that factory mj buckets and xj buckets work with my brackets. Just not sure on the curved "rocking" style yet. ParadiseMJ
Be aware that the "rocker" seats on stock MJ (any MJ) brackets will make your final seat height about 2" taller. Doesn't sound like much, but if you're taller than 5'8" you won't like it. I'm 5'11" and my head was rubbing the headliner. I hit my head getting in and had to skooch down to look straight ahead. They were in my truck for about 2 hours before I took it all apart and found the correct (MJ or XJ) seats. I know I keep going off topic here talking about my repop brackets but this is what I needed to know and had talked to a few people about! Any factory xj or mj seat will fit on my brackets, but cushion heights will be the only varying thing Sent from my SM-G892A using Tapatalk

There is no reason for name calling , it's a discussion and I will prove what I'm saying is correct . Here is MJ bench and bucket seats sliders next to each other , you CAN use the floor brackets (both are the same see picture ) . I never said the sliders were the same .... Strokermjcomanche
And to the OP , if you use the floor brackets from the bench seat they will work .

GrizzzzBear
The Bench Seat Rear Mount on the Driver's Side, does NOT have the Correct Mounting to be used for a Bucket Seat.
krustyballer16
That's just a drawing... I need some real life pictures to convince me....Adam posted a pic of bucket seat brackets from an mj, you can tell by the rear mount hes holding the bench seat bracket next to and they look the same. Do you still have the jeep you had to order the brackets for?Sent from my SM-G892A using Tapatalk
