Perfect, they can build high priced 'exact' copies of the originals that mysteriously don't fit and fail the first time they get wet.  Sign me up for two sets!

This. Even if they made them I wouldn't give half a damn. Not to mention they'd be faded and cracking inside of 3 years tops.

To give credit where credit is due, reverse engineering auto parts and actually having them fit is very difficult and expensive. If it was easy and cheap, aftermarket parts would actually be worth a damn. Molds are very expensive. Designing molds that work is difficult and expensive. No matter how many petitions we sign, I can just about guarantee the money just isn't there. Even if you say you'll buy 5 sets.

Plus, I can think of about 20 different parts I'd rather see made than tailllights. How about body and HVAC gaskets so I don't have to cut them out of foam myself? How about that damn 10-pin connector in the headlight harness? How about those damn push-pins that hold the rear cab trim piece on?

A petition? Petitions do not motivate or move the private sector, the market does.

Tail lights for the MJ is an absolute niche market, the perfect example of one.

Omix would not be the company to approach anyway.

RnD people along with the bean counters search markets, there are not enough MJs on the road, or off-road for that matter, also, just look at the way by which you treat your trucks, 90% of you destroy them. The 10% of us who do not abuse/misuse/chop/roll over/rattle can....etc.... do not make a large enough market to pursue.

The Omix character is wrong about one thing, my guess is that initial investment would be more along the line of $100K or more, most companies have a minimum production run, maybe 10,000 units, production company will get paid once the units are produced, then an investor/retailer has to sit on those units/inventory until they move/sell.

Initial retail price may be close to $500 per pair, I know, they know, you know..........you'll never buy.

I imposed a rule on myself, my MJ money will come form sources outside my household funds, this is why it's taking me forever to get the parts I want, thus I never have to justify the money I spend.

I'm about two weeks away from making the 50% down payment on my new gauge cluster, one of the questions I had for the designer was- 'will this ever make it into production?' The answer was the one that I expected, "no". Even with the number of XJs that my cluster would fit, NVU knows that they may never make another. I'm paying for the design, once designed and fitted, I was just curious if multiple clusters could be produced at a cheaper price. People in business know the market they serve.

Omix is right about one thing............it is a money thing. MJ tail lights are ugly as hell anyway.

Having been self-employed all of my working life, having produced a product (gun stock) ........................

Although it should not be, it's still shocking to me that most people do not know how the private sector, business, the economy at large, works.

I talked to Dave Logan in person asking him if they had any intention on making any Comanche parts at all . He politely told me that there wasn't a market for them to make any parts , but if they did decide to make any thing in the future that they have their 92 with low miles for the r+d

Thanks for sticking to the subject Adam.   :beerchug:  In a way this is good - for those who are hoarding, it makes the NOS tail lights worth even more.

And frankly, if there is anyone who is guilty of interjecting themselves in other people threads/business, it's you.

...

XJ/WJ Taillight availability, I would guess exceeds MJ.

I have not compared the two and I don't know about

'looks' but it seems that

spending the money on an Adapter or a Kit that

would allow fitting XJ or WJ Taillights, would be

the next best option.

Or any other taillight assembly that is close,

to MJ - fit and form .
