Rotopax

I think they’re kinda cool but I find myself rolling my eyes every time a customer requests them. For the space they take up along with the mount, I’d rather just use a jerry can mount and have more capacity on reserve.

Ya, 4 gallons in the same space a 5 gallon jerry can takes up. And $80-$100 for a set up compared to a $15 jerry can... but I think rotopax look cleaner.

Gonna do a combo of these two set ups I think. The offset wheel carrier with the 2 deep double tall cans 96ebc719665b80f31b02681962e87b3a.jpg16dba286cfc266c97b9ca7abfd144123.jpg

Yup, they're Barbie Jeep accessories, IMHO.

Use a normal cheap plastic can that you can buy at Walmart for $10 so it can be easily replaced when the tweakers steal it.

Not that this reply helps at all.

I think the rotopax are a little gimmicky... but will allow they could be a good solution for some needs.  But when we talk jerry can, they can vary quite a bit in quality.  I have a can like this:

https://www.amazon.com/Wavian-Authentic-NATO-Jerry-Fuel/dp/B007ZICYXQ/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1514417663&sr=8-3&keywords=jerry+can

I didn't pay that much, but it seals perfectly and is by far the best can I own.  I liked it so much I bought another one in the 10Liter size (half as tall), and it is super handy.  I mounted a standard military jerry can holder on the pass rear fender of my CJ and don't get a hint of fuel smell (I have a YJ tub with the family style rollbar so it fits nice between the legs).  But I think even this style of can varies in quality, there are knock offs out there that aren't as good.

So when comparing prices, these are pretty high.  I think my main concerns with a can (for off road use) are how well they seal and how durable they are.  I don't own any rotopax so don't know how they compare in those areas.

When the last hurricane hit FL, lots of FLians came up here. Since gas was in short supply many of them came with hitch carriers with 4-6 5gan cans strapped to it.

I'd not want to be anywhere around when one of the poor bastards got rear-ended.

Just a thought.
