Leaf Springs?

Recommended Posts

I've looked for some references for this on here, but most of what I've found is outdated codes for products that are no longer available. My question is, does anyone have a link or an idea of a site where I can get a set of leaf springs for my truck? And more importantly, one that won't cost me $350+ to get two of them? I've only found a couple sites and they range from 350 to 500 just for 2 of them. I need new leaf springs, but I don't want to shell out half a grand for them just because there's only a few companies that produce them.

make your own?? 350 is fairly cheap in my opnion. I was going to have some custom multi leaf packs made and that was going to be abut 700 bucks. ended up going with general springs a few months ago. they wear a bit more than 300 shipped if I rember right but I'm happy with them and they arrived quick. a quick Google search will let you add them to your cart and see what shipping will be

My plan was to upgrade to coilovers and a 4 link in the not too distant future, so I didn't want to offload a ton of money on springs if I didn't have to and when looking a few years ago(can't remember the exact time frame), I remember seeing them a bunch and only popping up for maybe 100 a piece. I'll take a look at general spring and, I guess, try to plan around having them for a bit longer. Thanks

depending on how your main leaf is (mine was wore about 1/4 thru from the u bolt that his them together at the ends) you can make a bastard pack. are you going foe height or load capacity? I had a spare set of mj leafs and made a bastard pack for a hunting trip then swapped them out when I got home.

I recall reading a few threads about using dakota or f150 packs from a junk yard but you have to either move the front mount or rear mount since they are longer. might be worth looking into for a cheap alternative with some elbow grease

do you want stock height?  lift? more hauling capacity?

owners have used Dakota, S-10, Explorer, and f-150 leafs to make their own packs.  none of them are exactly right, but they are close, especially if you retain the MJ main leafs to locate the tire in the wheel well.  just mix and match leas until you find what you desire.

Why do you need new leaf springs? Are any of them broken?

If they are just sagging -- and you don't want to spend money on a new set -- you might be able to have them re-arched to bring them back to stock specs for less than the cost of a new set.  Call around to some 4x4 / axle shops and see if they can point you in the right direction.

The main spring on one side was snapped in half(and so was the second leaf. Someone used it hard), so that makes bastard packs with the main out.

I believe my lift comes from the upgraded shackles and the spring over conversion. I'll try to find a diagram and see what's close to it, and try to make a pack out of that. As far as load goes, it doesn't really haul much but a spared tire and a few tools.
