cody4359
it's that time of year again where it's dark way to early. my daily is still in the shop, and I did a projector retrofit last year on it, the output is amazing without blinding oncoming rigs on low beam. I bought a kit to do in the comanche but came to the conclusion it would perform great but just wouldn't look right aestically. I've been running IPF glass and Osram 55/60 bulbs for about 4 years. it was an upgrade but still lacking. recently I bought a headlight harness kit to run directly from the battery and that helped immensley. Buuttttt...... I'm the type that is never satisfied. https://m.ebay.com/itm/CERAMIC-H4-HEADLIGHT-RELAY-WIRING-HARNESS-2-HEADLAMP-LIGHT-BULB-SOCKET-PLUGS-7/330997592807?epid=4006343433&hash=item4d10fe72e7:g:474AAOSwEK9Trseb for the time being, since this mostly stays offroad I'm running Hella 80/100w bulbs. I have some 65/70 Volsa +100 being shipped to me, and I have one more set I might try after that which are high powered and street legal. all of these are shot at the same exposure, aperature and iso. this pics are a little brighter than in person. Osram 60/55, to defend it a little it's is about 4 years old but little use. I don't like the blue tint on the bulb. 2nd is Hella 100/80 Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk

krustyballer16
Have your tried the Narva 130/100? They're "off road motorcycle bulbs"I run them in my delta housings with a putco harness. Holy $#!& they're bright! I don't even use my high beams. Sent from my SM-G892A using Tapatalk
cody4359
I haven't. i go thru phases/hobbies every month or so. I put the Volsa bulbs in and didn't like the slight blue tint and swapped them back out for the hella's. then I bought some trucklight knockoffs and ran those for about 10 mins. they just scatter light and don't produce enough usable light so I sent them back. I'm a bit spoiled from my daily's projectors. I have a kit 80% done, just need to seal up the fxr projector in the housing I cut out and open up the front support. the fxr's might be about 1/4" too long on the passenger side and the igniter may touch the battery, but my jeep phase has passed and I'm into precision shooting and load development this month.Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk

cody4359
nope, those are what I had. bluish light that didn't penatrate the dark and glared bad. I'd stick with the h4 and harness upgrade or if you want real usable light do a projector kit. the new D2S 4.0 are suppose to be bad @$$ and they are easy to install. I have the D2S 3.0 in my ford and light up about 6 lanes wide on low beam without glare and high beam is unbelievable with how far it shoots. low beam is the most used so that's usable light I refer to. I might try to get a comparison of one fxr projector/one ipf-hella if your Interested. my first retrofit was around $300 if I remember right. also, dunno where you at but if it get cold LED are worthless. I had a rental car and the headlights froze over, never had that problem with the little heat the projectors put out Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk
krustyballer16
I'm looking for something for my wheeler xj so I don't need anything extreme. I juat drive it in the snow now and the pods I have in my headlights now aren't cutting it Might juat stick some silverstars in there and be done since they can be bought anywhere. cody4359
I'm pretty happy with my ipf/hella combo, I've though of trying some hella glass but I'm sure it'd be splitting hairs. silver stars amd the $20 headlight harness would be better than the trucklight knockoffs I bet.Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk
krustyballer16
This is my current set up. FCK flush mounts as highs and their regular pods as lows. I love my Narvas and deltas in my mj but that's more than I wanna spend on a wheeler. And I've got a putco harness now, just gotta solder new plug ins on it cuz I cut em off to hardwire the pods in lol. DesertRat1991
So I understand that the harness would need to be upgraded but can the stock headlight housings handle the heat from a 80/100w bulb? Or do the housing need to be upgraded to?

Or do the housing need to be upgraded to? Do they make a sealed beam more than 65 watts? Cuz that's a stock headlight. There's no stock headlights that aren't sealed beam i don't think. But an aftermarket housing might or might not handle the heat. Depends on quality and material. The glass sense of my deltas get pretty hot after a good drive. you can feel he at off them about 12" away... glass is just fine after 4 yearsSent from my SM-G892A using Tapatalk

cody4359
I just go out to the woods and set up targets or pick large rocks off in the distance. I wouldn't mind finding a competition or two to get better. I've gotten 1-2' rocks at 780 yards, not that precise but fun. the 6.5 creedmoor is on the left, .223 on right. 400 yds and the creedmoor spread is just shy of 2.75" which I'm pretty happy with. the 3 groups are at 115 yards platinum g with seating depth and couple tenth increments. once I finish up my hornady bullets I've found a better load with Noslers that are almost half price Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk
Marine1Texas
I got these GENSSI 7x6 LED on Amazon for 29.95 buck a piece https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B013TMZUSM/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 I bought 2 earlier this week for my f250 same size and notice very bright and the amps went down. So I ordered 2 more for the MJ and wow it is like driving my 2018 truck with brightness.

Marine1Texas
The ones I got are very cool after running for a hour, in fact cooler then the halogen ones. they draw 65watts on high beam and 55 watts on low so 4.5 amps on low or 5.4 amps on high. cody4359
LEDS don't project any heat so they'll have plastic lenses. And I stand by my previous comment that was deleted describing my experince with mutiple leds and how they suck. my jeep lights scatter bad on highbeam but the only people that will suffer are the ones who have LEDs or they're hi beams on. the projectors I put in the ford blow halogen/leds out of the water tho the camera doesn't justify it. pics are ipf glass/hella bulbs vs DS2 4.0 with nigh breaker bulbs. low then highSent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk
