Swampy
This is just like a random kinda thread for those late night web surfers. I wanted to know if anyone has tried, or currently has a sponsor/sponsorship from any company. I had a failed attempt at trying to work out some kind of sponsorship with Rusty's Offroad profucts. I sent them an official proposal, pictures of my mj, and future build plans. It is safe to say that they never contacted me back even after a few phone calls with them asking about the status of the proposal and getting the same response. I mean I wasn't expecting much because I am 19, no previous sponsor experience, no actual build experience, or show experience (like SEMA etc ). But it was worth a shot am I right? I am sorry for the rant, I just wanted to share my experience so far, and I want to hear from so of you
Ωhm
The gears of industry turn very slow and never turn backwards, give them time young man. I'll also add, it helps to be a family in-law.
Jeep Driver
Friends, Family, Fools. Those are your only sponsors. At 19 I was working two jobs and busting my nuts on about 3 hours of sleep per day.........seven days a week. You'll have to sponsor yourself. cody4359
yep, I have always sponsored myself. it's called work and priorities. if I was a company owner, I'd buy a rig and showcase it myself since you'll get the look your after and know the quality of work, much like dirtbound and jcr have done. DigitalBman
IronMan4x4Fab has showcased my MJ on their social media.... Yet all iv been able to do is have the opportunity to spend more money with them before other people do. Lol They "let" me be apart of their test program for their new front 4 link cross-member. Work hard... Save pennies. Best advice I can give you... Don't go into debt for your jeep. When I was 19 I got drunk and ordered nearly $3,000 worth of jeep stuff off of Amazon one night through my credit card. Took me 2 years to get it paid off. That's where my OR-FAB bumper, warn winch, light bar / pods and other goodies came from..lol now they are on my MJ. Give it time my friend, focus on job, education, and good things will come. I promise. I am speaking from experience.

dasbulliwagen
First off, I'm not trying to be an Azz, just trying to be real. As big as Rusty's is, they don't need you. I'm sure they get proposals like this all the time. With sponsorship like that you'll have responsibilities to be seen a certain number of times at public events weather you want to or not. It would come out of their advertising budget and as such, you'll need to be seen in order for it to be worth it to them. At your age and lack of experience, it wouldn't be worth their time or money to invest in you. To make it worth it, you'll need to show all the off road places you've been to and go to on a regular basis. You'll need Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram pages documenting your builds and adventures and proof of your number of followers. Not to mention build threads on sites like this one with documented numbers of views. If you haven't proven yourself in that area beforehand, then they have no reason to invest in you. Just save up, build your stuff right, and document everything, then maybe in the future, they'll help you out. Sorry for the dose of reality. DirtyComanche
If you had a Youtube channel dedicated to modding Jeeps with 20k+ subscribers and regularly pulling in 40K views per video, I bet they would, assuming you promised to only speak positively of their products. Or if you competed regularly at events they might consider it, but I wouldn't expect a lot out of them for that as they aren't really marketing to the higher performance crowd and I suspect they already have as many people sponsored as they would like for that. Otherwise they aren't going to care. They're an established company, the return vs cost for sponsoring some random person is simply not there. I've never been sponsored. I have friends that were/are, and it's something of a pain in the @$$, the sponsor will wind up dictating what can be used in the build in exchange for providing only certain parts of the build or parts at a discount/cost. One of my friends wound up running an original Elocker because of his sponsor, and he lost races due to the reliability issues they had.

No need to be sorry, that was exactly my thought sending the proposal. I knew I probably wasn't going to get anything out of it but I was hopeful and still gave it a shot
