Strokermjcomanche
I'm looking for seats for my 88 Comanche that I will eventually put a black interior in , are these out of a newer Xj / WJ / Zj or from the 1990 Xj limited that they are currently in ( the current owner has no clue if they're original or not) I'm fully aware of the bracket and seat year / model changes and that these seats won't flip forward , but I have actual mj bucket seats and plan to switch these covers on my seats ... Thanks for the help
64 Cheyenne
Not sure what year or model they came from, I just wanted to comment that I like your plan of just swapping the covers, doing that allows you to make sure you are using good unbroke seat pans. I always like the idea of "rebuilding" seats if needed, instead of just swapping (unless the seats are pristine of course).
Hypoid
Those are indeed stock to that vehicle, nice find!

I don't want to drive a couple hours away to find out they need modified lol. Don't think I'm doubting you , just that I wanna make sure ... I was going to have my current seats recovered which is going to be pricey and the extra mj seats I have are in great shape minus the covers off of an
Minuit
Those are the seats from the XJ Limited and later on optional on the Country. I want a set very, very badly. Door panels are the Limited versions too so it's pretty much certain those are the original seats. The bolster design is a little bit different on the later versions (more rounded), but those are the early ones that will bolt on to an MJ seat bracket. The early ones are just the Laredo/Eliminator seats with different covers. These are the later ones:
Hypoid
100% sure ? 1000% sure. ;) I own a '90 Limited, with junkyard seats I pulled from another Limited. I wish I could find another set that nice for U-Pull prices.

When you look at the proportions, the seat cushion looks longer on the newer seats. To the OP, ask for a picture of the front mounting point. Another difference is the earlier seats have a lever on the seat back for a recline position.
HOrnbrod
Glundblad's (Gary) 1987 4DR XJ seats in his MJ Chief      I'd kill for these............

Longer seat cushion, rounded bolsters, and the recline lever is at the base of the seat rather than in the seat back. I think they're a little wider, too. If you put those in your '90, could you mail me your Limited upholstery? :D I can try, right?

Strokermjcomanche
And here they are , in pretty good shape too . One small hole in the drivers seat bottom cushion ( looks like cigarette burn ) , no tears or other noticeable defects other than normal 17 year old seats . HOrnbrod
You're not keeping those crummy seats, are you? With a hole? Are they grey or black?

HOrnbrod
That's the point. I know what a perfectionist you are - you wouldn't like them at all. I'll even pay shipping if you insist.

This is where the Colorado climate sucks: 1) Dry air. 2) Increased UV exposure. 3) Oxygen starved minds. The only way I'll find used seats that nice, is to stumble into an estate sale where the vehicle has been parked indoors for 15 years.

This cherokee had a rather clean body , but I have no clue where it came from. I have a brother that lives in Parker ,and I've got a couple MJs from that region . I'd buy as many as my wallet allows ... Ohio vehicles suck lol
Dzimm
I've got a set of these seats in my Eliminator and have been wondering where they came from. Is there anyway to make these sit lower? I'm 6'4" and my head touches the Headliner. I like the leather seats but will probably have to replace them if there isn't a way to lower them. Lol I was just reading this part of your build thread. Anyway no these are manual seats. I believe they are from a 4dr XJ originally.
