I was wondering if Volvo. 746 fuel. Inject  help. rough idol. on. 1988 4L. with over 280K on. the speedo. ?

 

Any other upgrades you would choose to. help. rough idol.

The injectors plus a new distributor cap, rotor, plugs and wires fixed most of my rough idle. The injectors are great and one of the first things I do to any of my Renix.

You should do the Cruiser tips for the ground cleanups/upgrades/etc and probably even bypass the stupid bulkhead connector too.  They cost almost nothing to do and will probably make a difference.

Do you think the coolant temp sensor has much to do with your engine running rich? I noticed my Guage isn't working, ive read from some that it makes a difference while others say it doesn't. Thoughts?

The ECU doesn't listen to the gauge sensor. The sensor the ECU uses is in the engine block for Renix and thermostat housing for HO.

No. The sensor is in the very back of the cylinder head.

Renix coolant temperature devices:

 

Sender  On the rear driver side of the head, one wire, sends signal to gauge on dash.  That's all it does.

 

Sensor  On the lower engine block (driver side) sends info to ECU for air/fuel mix.   That's all it does.

 

Switch  On the stock radiator and most aftermarket rads.  Sends power to e-fan relay.  That's all it does
