Jackrabbit41
Can I just get a 97 header panel and put it on my 87? Or do o need to do the entire front clip swap? I really like how they like look
MeanLemons
You can just do it without the fenders but it wouldn't line up with the fenders though

Siopposition
U need the fender brackets that are on the leading edge of the fender, which don't line up to the old fenders edges well the other thing is that if u have a stock bumper it won't fit with the new fenders. Siopposition
I spose it would fit. But they're will be a gap. The 97+ fenders don't go down as far as the older style. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G891A using Tapatalk
75sv1
I am going to try to keep the '88 header panel, but use the '97+ fenders. There are attachment issues. In my case, I'll have to fab some 'L' or 'Z' brackets, upper right and left of the headlamps. Those two bolts/attachment screws go through and into the engine bay. The lower ones do not match, (if I remember correctly), but I think I can redrill the fiberglass. Not the same as what you are trying to do, but similar or reverse. I'd probably swap on the newer fenders in your case and newer bumper or upgraded bumper.

Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G891A using Tapatalk theres still no "gap". theres just no body panel/flare behind the end caps and the wheel well gains clearance. I can take a photo when I get home if wanted.
Crash
I ran a 97+ header panel on my renix XJ for a bit before my friend finished his swap and it was alright. There is a gap at the fenders since older is squared at the top. Even when I swapped fenders, i ran stock bumper with no issues. I also have late model header and fenders on my MJ. Had stock front bumper til I got DBO stubby installed.
