Jackrabbit41
So I have a 2005 Yamaha 350 raptor. I had it running one day and then I turned it off. Then about 10 minutes later I tried to start it again and it cranks but doesn't fire over. Pulled the plug and I have no spark. I'll I've done now is put in a new plug, still no spark, and check fuses. I don't really know much about what to check next. Just looking for some help. I checked some of the connections and everything looks good and not corroded. Also this quad is leaking some kind of oil. It's not engine oil becuase every time I check the oil it's in the same spot. I don't know what else it could be because it uses a wet clutch so isn't the motor oil the only oil in there? It ain't brake fluid either. It's coming from underneath the thing behind the foot shift lever. Thanks y'all hopefully you guys know about atvs too!
ComancheKid45
Motor oil and brake fluid is all you have in there. Check the plugs on the coil and clean them if ya can. Start there. We'll see what we can find. Lol
Wiggilez
what about the stator (not 100% sure that's the right name) if you have no spark maybe there's a problem with the coil or magnet?
shelbyluvv
CDI box?
87Warrior
I've had the stator go bad in my 00 Wolverine 350. It started and ran fine but did not charge the battery. My bet would be on the coil if all the electrical connections check out good.

I'm just assuming his quad thingy functions like my two stroke dirt bike where the stator provides the electricity for the spark.
Jackrabbit41
I've seen other guys talk about the stator. What is it and where is it?
shelbyluvv
Every time I have had a no spark issue it has always been the CDI. They go bad a lot.
Wiggilez
I've seen other guys talk about the stator. What is it and where is it? This is a bad way to discribe it but its like a built in alternator/generator attached to the crank.

shelbyluvv
Come on man. I know you have the internet. Jump on Google and type in "Raptor 350 CDI" then go to YouTube and do the same. It's your ignition. It tells the coil when to fire.
87Chief
I've seen other guys talk about the stator. What is it and where is it? Should be on the other side of your clutch. Underneath the cover. On my dirt bike it had 3-4 phillip screws holding it in and then pull it off the crank.
