Radio / Clock Illumination Relay?

The below is a page from a 91 FSM showing the illumination relay location for a 91 XJ/MJ. It ain't there, or if it is I can't find it. I ASSume the earlier Renix models are the same. Has anyone ever found this thing?

The '88 Elec FSM has it as connector c354.  I haven't looked for mine,

The illumination circuitry must be super reliable then. Everything (radio, gauge cluster, clock, etc.) runs thru that relay, wherever it is. I was looking for it because I thought I had a problem with the new AM/FM CD player I put in, but it turned out to be something else. Still would like to know where the heck it is. The schematic shows it as a standard Bosch-type relay.   :hmm:

The '88 manual says it is "under the LH side of instrument panel behind kick panel."

My bet is that it is a mistake in labeling.  none of the circuits mentioned draws enough power to warrant a relay....

I have yet to find one. I do have an 88 XJ harness I can look at when I get home. A lot easier than gargling under the dash and tempting yet another circuit failure.

I did not find a relay my self either on my new 88 mj.

Pictures (drawings) in the manual do not look like regular relays.  Look more like a traditional plug/connector.  (Maybe "relay" is not the proper term.)
