Comanchefever Posted December 22, 2015 Posted December 22, 2015 I tried the search function with no avail. Has anyone figured away to retain the part time light function after switching to a non disconnect axle? I was thinking of running a line that is only hot when in 4wd to the 4wd indicator switch but am not sure which line that would be. Any help is appreciated.
Blue88Comanche Posted December 22, 2015 Posted December 22, 2015 not completely sure, but i think the vacuum switch on the transfer case can be replaced with an electric one. then just splice into the factory light indicator switch located under the pressure coolant bottle on the passenger side firewall/fender area.
yxmj Posted December 22, 2015 Posted December 22, 2015 Someone had asked this before when doing a 2-4 swap...I looked it up but never re-posted... If you go on Summit racings site...look up vacuum actuated switch....the one I found is made by TCI Auto part # TCI-cmp3766b.... With a switch like this you could still use stock T-case switch....run a hose from the t-case switch to the vac outlet on one of these....wire your light to one of the terminals on the switch....run the other terminal to an accessory outlet on your fuse panel ....when you pull the handel back to 4x4 the t-case switch creats a vacuum that activates this switch and turns on the light...
Comanchefever Posted December 22, 2015 Author Posted December 22, 2015 Thanks! Will take your advice and use an electronic transfer case switch off a later model, run a power source to that, then to the indicator light.
onlyinajeep726 Posted December 23, 2015 Posted December 23, 2015 Read, enjoy: http://comancheclub.com/topic/48909-40-aw4-to-ax15-swap-dash-4wd-indicator-question/
Comanchefever Posted December 23, 2015 Author Posted December 23, 2015 Onlyinajeep, thanks. Cruiser, I don't need the light. It's just annoying to have non working functions on a vehicle.
Crash Posted December 24, 2015 Posted December 24, 2015 All NP242 equipped XJ/MJ had the elec. switch. The plug should be there underneath to connect it.
gogmorgo Posted December 25, 2015 Posted December 25, 2015 Yup. So long as the electrical switch goes into the tcase.
