It wasn't uncommon for me to bust a light or two :eek: Afte a while I fabbed my own guards that where labeld Ghetto "fab"oulous guards, but they worked ;) MY latest thoughts would be to look at the lowrider crowd. They make and sell inserts to fill in the tailight section and move your lights. I think this would solve 2 problems at once. First being the lack of availability of tail lights, and the second their location that put them in harms way.
