deziped1
Anyone installed a 5.9 eng, at trans, trf case in an MJ. Yes anything can be done even if it doesn't make common sense. I have access to a complete 98 GC Lmtd with a 20k mile crate eng. Runs excellent and is a power house and cheap.. Just one of those what if ideas since the components are available and I have a lot of time to get it done. Damn, then I'd have an all wheel drive all the time MJ. 88ComancheMitch
Swapping a 242 TC in is no big deal, especially since you're doing the rest of the work... IMHO, coming from someone with a 5.9L ZJ, it would be an amazing build, but you're not gaining anything with the swap for the most part. More power/torque,...but why is that needed? Eagle
Sometimes the only answer necessary is "Because I can." If you plan to do a good job of it and not a hack, I'd say go for it. Just be aware that cooling has always been a problem even with small-block Chevies in XJs and MJs, so pay attention to cooling.
shelbyluvv
There's a couple of us who have done the Magnum swaps. I have a 5.2 in my 86. The wiring is the biggest hurdle. With your donor being a 98 I would do a 97+ dash conversion to make the wiring a lot easier.
Incommando
Isn't it amazing how much more power modern cars have? That high-end 5.9L of 15 years ago doesn't touch the current Grand's base 3.6L V6 for horsepower and efficiency let alone the two optional V8 gas engines' power and there is a diesel option as well. In so many ways this is the golden age of automobiles.
onlyinajeep726
Read through this... not mine, but someone local to me did it. http://comancheclub.com/topic/17566-360-fuel-injection-build/
