Ok, got the '89 MJ parts truck home this afternoon. Found a couple of cool items on this truck, a factory rear cargo light with interior rocker switch, and a factory under hood work light and cable reel! I know the work light is a pretty rare option for XJ's, but, not sure about the cargo light. The cab is in far worse condition then I first thought, the metal above the doors and above both windshield and rear glass is totally shot! One of my friends wanted the rain gutter trim pieces, and, in trying to take them off, we took a big chunk of metal on both sides with the gutter trim. It's obvious this truck was never going to be driven ever again! The engine bay is complete, everything needed to put the 4.0 in the '86 MJ. Got two working B-Piller lights, but, they only work manually, and not by the door jamb switch.Tomorrow, the PB Blaster soaking of the bed nuts/studs starts on both trucks. I'm hoping by the end of the week, I'll have the '89 bed off and cleaned up, and the insurance adjuster will have finally looked at the Eliminator to see what they will do, so I can start tearing down and building up the Eliminator. Anyone know what years the cargo light and under hood work light were offered? Just curious, that's all. Thanks!!

Like most of these trucks...

There's isn't a trim or year that come with specific accessories...

That cargo light is as rare as it gets...

Got mine at the jy last year with the switch

Cool, since you have a cargo light, do you know what the bulb holder looks like? I just have a strip of metal in the center that has the wire tap that the harness wire plugs onto, and the two metal strips at the screws, I assume those are the grounding sides, but, I can't see how a bulb would work between these strips. I think I'm missing a couple pieces that holds the bulbs in place.

Got the B-Pillar lights from the '89 to work in the Eliminator, but only in manual mode, won't work with the door switch.

Here is the retractable under hood work light.

Does anyone know how the best way would be to get the cord to retract freely? I had some issues last night trying to get it to retract back. Thanks!

As for the cargo light, I'm thinking of just installing a couple of LED strips in the housing and be done.

You have your rear window!!  :D Got a tarp covering it now the window is out. I would like to try and get it running before I pull the bed so I can see about putting the engine/tranny, and associated wiring into the '86 MJ.

I'm just giving you a hard time. Lol. Whatever is wrong in the wiring, we have two other harnesses to salvage from. I can get the engine to fire and run outside of the Mj. (Don't ask, I'll just show you.)

Got great news from the insurance adjuster on Thursday. They gave me a check for almost $1900 to FIX it, and not total it! New paint job and spray in bedliner, here we come!!

Well, while the radiator was draining because it and the original hoses (hoses still had the AMC logo on them) needed replacement, I started taking things off. Ditched the busted tube bumper, and beat the driver side rear corner so I could drop the tailgate. The tailgate is in good shape, still latches and no damage besides the slight bend at the bottom from the tube bumper hit it. I think the bumper brackets can be straightened. Might start taking the bed off the '89 tomorrow, depending on time. Need to take it to the guy remaking the Eliminator stripes/decals to take measurements, then swap the beds, then get it painted, get the decals put on, and then the bedliner.

That's it for now. The weather has be extremely hot, so, haven't been out to do stuff like I would want. Hopefully this weekend, I can get the beds swapped.

Ok, got enough flack from my friend, I painted the flat black tailgate to match the bed. Just for now, I'm trying the Rustoleum Truck Bed Liner, if anything to just get rid of the banana tan inside of the bad until I get everything done.

Well, I think I might have found my fuel pump issue:

After getting power to everything cut off and on, and then, wouldn't start, I got it home, and started checking the wiring. I smelled something burning, but, I physically didn't see anything. After narrowing where the short was, I found out it was the ICM when I unplugged the plugs to check their condition. Changed it out, and no problems so far!

Finally starting on the 3" XJ lift! I'm using add-a-leaves from Outlaw Star's old XJ, and the fixed LCA's, springs, and shocks from my XJ. Got the add-a-leaves installed the last few days.

Gained 2" exactly in rear. I will be doing the rest on Saturday.
