New member w/MJ and intro

Recommended Posts

Hello all

i have been lurking for a month or so until i had my MJ all together before posting it etc etc. i picked it up my 87 from the second owner, who bought it off a preacher who lived in central calif. It has a new engine (10K on it now) as apparently the second owner wanted to run mobil 1 which promptly loosed up all the old sludge and blew motor/head right apart. I was told that the cream top was stock from the dealer as it was sold in an agriculture area of  calif and the color was hoped to keep the occupant from cooking his brains out in the calif summer.

I replaced the carpets (which don't fix quite right as documented), the head liner, and had the seat reupholstered (i like bench seats!). i bought the thing really to haul old motorcycles (and probably paid way to much!), but it seems like everything i own i always want to fix it up etc - i really love the thing now.

I imagine i'll have questions as i start to delve a bit deeper into it, as i want to replace the injectors and shocks first and will no doubt encounter additional problems as the develop so i look forward to hearing from those in the know on the forum.  here's a few pics -  hope you enjoy

Where does the carpet not fit right?

thx All - its a crappy ACC repo carpet - its loose on the tranny hump and the rear section is pure crap fittin wise - didn't fold over the frame like the orginal runner mat did -  i scoured around for someone else who makes one but had no luck and in the end i was just like F'it   - but having said that if i get a hair up my @$$ i may redo it but thought it looks good for now

yeah the seat came out sweet - i had an unphosletry guy do it here in Orange County  in color i liked from a pattern i saw in some  rod magazine  -  he said he like it so much too that he wanted to put it on his little web site, apparently a customer with a porsche saw it he wanted his seat done the same - i never new porsche's had bench seats but there ya go!
