wow, didn't get the 44 but at least i don't have to settle for the d35. from what i was reading i thought those were the only 2 choices on the manche. got lucky and got a 8.25 I'll take that!

bought my $500 dollar comanche last weekend. put in new powersteering pump and new clutch slave cylinder.

just need to find the 4wd conversion parts..

don't spoil my happy thoguhts! i thought d35 always had the plastic plug not the steel screw in.. oh well still got a good deal on the truck!

That's a bad way to tell. I think the later D35s had the plastic plugs, but I think they came in 8.25s and the ZJ D44 too.

It was something chrysler came up with.

FYI, On the d35's that came w.rubber plug that tended to shrink as age set in & caused oil seepage, problem can be repaired by using the drain fill plugs (30mm wrench) from 231 &/or 242 t/cases. just buy tap the correct size & thread pitch & tap existing stamped hole in cover w/cover removed. must be tapped straight or it will leak worse. use t/c drain plug & no more leak or seep. I purchased my tap from local tool supply for about $30.00, so maybe get local guy's to share cost. as mechanic my tool purchases are tax write off.

There's that route, or you could just pick up an earlier cover out of the 'yard, for about $5.

you guys are right. my 1st boss @ dealership when i was starting out made this observation, "the more you learn, the easier it is to forget the simple solution" i guess it still sneaks up & bites me @ times.

if anyone wants to replace the cover they have, I've got three D35 covers with screws.

you pay shipping.
