Three different bed sizes?

So I know for a fact 87-92 comanches had a short bed avalible (I'm not sure the size) and through 86-92 there was also a "long" bed option! I have the "long" bed model and it is 7.5 feet long, But when I look at the short beds they look abnormally short. But ive seen pictures of MJ's that don't look super long or short, theyre kind of in beteween. So I was wondering if there was a third bed size that I am ignorant of. here's a picture of my MJ long bed that I think is a bit to long and have considered shortening before body work. so is there a third size? If so what is the size of it? Also what is the size of the short bed? Thank you!

nope.  just a long (roughly 7' inside dimension) and a short (roughly 6' inside dimension).  plenty of custom rigs out there though. :thumbsup:

I am willing  to bet what you have seen as a very short 3rd bed is a custom "bob'ed" bed done by the owner.  Some people shorten their bed overhang to avoid dragging it off the road.

The angle and lift and sometimes even color of a truck can also influence how "long" it looks to my eyes at least.

I'd have to measure.

To look right you would have to graft the short bed from the center of the wheel wells on to a long bed cut in the same spot.

In my opinion, that would have the best proportions.

A long bed has to much behind the rear wheels and a short bed's proportions are just a touch off. It's like the cab and nose are the same length as the bed.

It would be nice to see one photochopped to see if I'm right.

I agree the short beds are a tad short and opposite with the long beds!

I think Willy nailed it with his bobbed long bed. The proportions look right to me. Compare it to the long bed following it.

Nice rig and works well for off road, but for a mostly street driven truck that's used as a truck, it's a little to short for me.

The second truck is probably a 92, exact same paint as mine.

Agree, but all I'm saying is a bobbed longbed looks better proportioned overall. It retains the wheelbase of the LWB and has a few inches in the bed than the shortbed for cargo. I could live with that as a street truck when used as a truck.
