Is it bad its ticking and knocking slightly???

The engine? Maybe, maybe not.

And can I post a video so you guys can hear I really don't want to buy a new engine

Yes, that would help.

Switching to a higher weight oil might be helpful.

If you just paste the url of a youtube video directly into the reply box (don't format it at all) the forum will embed it in your post.

The bigger question is what is your oil pressure at? Not on the factory guage but a real mechanical gauge? I have 18 psi on cold start and 1-2 psi at idle. My engine rattles like crazy!

I tore into my engine as a result of severe "ticking" ... Found two Rocker bridges twisted making four rockers very loose. Also found the usual rear exhaust manifold stud broken. Dubbed her 'Ole Ticky

Since I had bearing I went under as well and found slightly worn rod bearings and good mains.

A video or sound clip would go a long way in helping diagnose. Lots of things on a 4.0 "tick"

. . . . I have 18 psi on cold start and 1-2 psi at idle. . . . . . .

You serious?

Yes I am sadly. I have another engine sitting in the bed of my Dodge waiting for this one to blow up. Somehow it is still going. I drive it 15-20 miles a day. The 4.0L is a stout little motor!

If you change the privacy settings, you can make the video "unlisted", which means only someone with the direct link can do anything with it. It can still be embedded in the forum, but it won't show up in searches on Youtube or Google.

Sounds like a little bit of everything .... Pop the valve cover and look for loose Rockers and or twisted pivot bridges.

Sounds like there may be a bit of rod knock in there as well (but it was awfully faint). Was that a cold start or was it up to temp, may be piston slap.

My 88 sounded similar before I parked it, replaced rods and head (had one, otherwise it would have needed new rockers, pivots and bridges). Mine did not have that louder deeper background knocking, the ticket no is top end (rockers and pivots most likely).

Anyway that's my guess on that one, but Internet diagnoses are generally just that ... A whole lotta guessing, based on past experience (but ain't it all?).
