CEThomas
Well with DaimlerChrysler dumping Chrysler I wonder what will lay ahead for Jeep  I sure hope it will be for the good  Charles
JOMJ87
I heard jeep was going to be up for grabs soon to i thought. I was reading it in JP or something. I think Toy would be best cause they kinda stay to the original roots of stuff and they listen to the buyer. Cole
jeepdoggydogB
Well with DaimlerChrysler dumping Chrysler I wonder what will lay ahead for Jeep  I sure hope it will be for the good  Charles There is a lot of speculation, Cerberus also purchased GMAC, some are saying that they may split Chrysler and Jeep up and then sell one of the two separately. If AM General for example decided to pickup the Jeep Division again we could be back to where we are in 1986  I think the re-animation of the Jeep pickup truck with a Deisel, and fuel efficient cars like the Compass in addition to the Hummer line may be a good fit for Am General. The problem is the four door Wrangler might be too close for the H3. :ack: The possibilities are endless but I really hope AM General would actually try to acquire the Jeep line. feerocknok
no mater what happens i think were screwed! can u say IFS wrangler  Can you say IRS Wrangler? So who bought it? I just heard real quick on the news last night that it'd be announced but went to bed.
DirtyComanche
I don't care what jeep does. They discontinued the stuff I like. And they never really sold much in the way of good drivetran stuff. I care about ford, chevy, dodge, IH, 'suzu, etc who all have been known to make some pretty good parts donors. If they all decide there is no room for solid axles and standard configured engines... Inevitably we're hooped.

Inevitably we're hooped. we've been hooped since they joined chrysler. actually, since chrysler decided to drop the comanche and keep the dakota. guarantee if they kept the comanche, the demand would have outweighed the demand for the dakota
CEThomas
So who bought it? I just heard real quick on the news last night that it'd be announced but went to bed. Cerberus Capital Management, L.P. one of the world's leading private investment firms. Unlike DaimlerChrysler they will do what ever it takes to make $$$. Most likely they will sale Jeep to fund the turn around of Chrysler, if not I do not want to think what the will do to Jeep  Charles
feerocknok
If they're in it for the money, they'll probably sell the Jeep name, or all Jeeps will turn into the Compass. That's what the general public wants or seems to want.
DirtyComanche
I dunno, I think they've made decent sales on the new wrangler things.
CEThomas
You are right, if they do not sale the Jeep name all we will see is crossovers  Charles
Mitch
Good sell it! lol! I wouldnt wheel anything off the market these days.. 1: they cost too much. 2. the old jeeps are working just fine! 3. they cost too much.

With a component no longer on the factory market, it will eventually fade from the aftermarket.
DirtyComanche
Perhaps. There has been no toy solid front axles since what, 87? Look how much more aftermarket there is for them now, than there was then. That includeds new housings, knuckles, shafts/joints, thirds, and all the little BS. Personally I'd rather not turn to the aftermarket if I don't have to. It'sa lot cheaper to buy stuff used from the boneyard. But that day may be coming to an end.

A lot of JY's have started to crush anything over 10yrs old. And as the price of steel keeps going up that old 10yr old jeep parked in the JY is worth more as scrap then to keep for someone to buy a part off. And if you live iin the rust belt the salt is going to take a toll like it or not. Charles
