introduction and important question (long bed owners!!!)

hey long bed owners!  (and everyone else)  glad to be here.  XJ owner, but buying more MJ parts...  I have an important question to ask you.

 

what is the measurement, in inches, from the front of a long bed to the center of the wheel opening?

 

i'm having a custom frame made to put a long bed on to tow behind my XJ, but the bed is over an hour away, and i know someone on this board has an encyclopedic brain ;)

Don't have any measurements right off hand, but do you have any pictures of said project?

Just measured it up, it's about 45" from front of the bed to center.

I can confirm 45 inches if you want to be more exact 45.5 inches this was a measurement from the out side as I have a bed liner.

I found the shortbed frame blueprint. It shows the forward and rear spring eye locations, so just add the difference between the SWB and LWB to the dimensions ahead of the forward spring eye and you've got it.

A number of years ago, I measured and wrote down the inside dimensions from the front wall of the bed to the rear edge of the bed floor for a mat ...88½";  from front inside wall to front of wheel well.... 27";   from rear of wheel well to rear edge of bed floor .... 27";   which puts center of wheelwell 44¼" from inside front wall of the bed. Wheel wells are centered on the bed on the long bed.

Foolish move if the OP believes he's going to pre-build the frame and pull it to the bed and set it down and bolt it up.

 

 

Put it on a trailer and drag the thing home.

 

An hour away is nothing, that's a daily drive for me.

He is. But the bed is an hour away from where the trailer is being built.
