D44 front?

No.

D44 rear.... Yeah. But it's hard. You have to turn down the centre 'hub' portion of the flange, and then there may or may not be enough clearance on the back side for stud installation.

The problem is the 5x4.5 pattern is bloody small.

I had a discussion recently with a potential buyer of one of my 8.8s and he wanted to do the same thing, but after I gave him the flange diameter he said the explorer flange is just not wide enough. :(

make spacers that go from 5 to 6 lug. all you need is a round steel plate that's the thickness spacer you need, and drill out the center so that it sits flat, and then drill the holes where you need them.

any machine shop could do it and probably fairly cheap

Change the front hubs to ford f150 style... 5x51/2, and you can get 8.8 shafts in that bolt pattern, or get spacers that go from 4.5 to 5.5. I know spider trax makes them. Look into yukon 8.8 shatfs, I know they make custom 35 spline 60 shafts you have to cut down for less then 80 bucks a side

hmm are there d44 shafts that i could get that are 5x4.5? i may just make my own spacers, iam tryin to keep the cost down on this project as much as possible

call moser, I know they make a dual pattern 5x4.5/5.5 8.8 axle. You might want to see if they can make a 6 lug.

Then you get alloys in the 8.8 and solve your wheel pattern dilemma.

Don't forget to find out whether or not the 6 bolt pattern will fit inside the explorer disk brakes. The 8.8 flange fits very snugly inside of the rotor.
