88 Cheif Throttle Body

Recommended Posts

^^ Especially with adapting the IAT and TPS Renix sensors to an HO TB. Much more than a "bit" of work as caryuck says. More bad advice.................

And, it's a cavalier suggestion without knowing the OP's real issue with the throttle body. Sheesh!!

And you know what it is how? I was joking around. If you have no sense of humour, you should at least have common sense but it's not so common anymore.  :peek:

If you want to "joke around" while giving bad advice to CC members, I suggest you find another forum to do it in. Whatever little sense you made before is now nonsense. Maybe it's time for you to move on and practice being a bad comedian elsewhere.

The TPS and iac splice directly across. Not a problem. Don, you don't even own a renix.

I have done. The. Half h.o. Swap with nothing but butt connectors to adapt wiring. Works great. Matter of fact, works BETTER.

Renix intake, exhaust, sensors, and basically...well, everything, just suck. I will never willingly keep any. MJ renix. H.o. Is. Smoother, crisper, easier to find parts for IN STOCK at the parts stores. Even the. First h.o. Intake is an improvement over. Renix.

Plenty of people have done the swap. To give it a blanket statement of "not worth it" is to discredit the knowledge of members here.

If you think swapping an intake, header, downpipe, and a few hoses is "hard" or "not worth it" then I Suggest that you refrain from commenting regarding such things....it is easy, basic work, that will net several improvements. Over airflow and availability of parts.

I think you guys were pretty harsh on carnuck, what happened to the "good time" rule?

Myself, I'm gonna be running an HO motor, intake, and exhaust with Renix engine controls....

And a "bit" of work is relative to whether you are a good mechanic or a novice or using the term not in your correct context...really?

Bout makes me a "bit" scared to speak up, "might give bad advice, and be told to move on", guess if my advise was bad then at least two people are out,

me for bad advice, the OP for askin, and the board who has to listen to drivel (mine included), instead of everybody gettin their panties in a bunch and suggesting to find another board...aren't we here to help and learn. "IIyye... the Comanche pirate forum board" "how dare you give questionable advice!" "AARRGGHH!"

As I'm am newer to the forum I'm not trying to stick my head out and get it chopped off . I'm not one to take sides . I will say that if I have a problem with my truck I don't wanna be bombarded with a bunch of "well you gotta rotate the air in the tires" kinda fixes . on the other hand I think carnucks trying to help . I see quite a bit of posts where I have no clue how to diagnose or make an edjucated decision so I say nothing . I do appreciate all the advice/ help though . Sorry for blabbering on your post 88 mj petterson

Well iv been dealing with that high idle for a while and after tryin just about everything i can think of i decided to make sure the throttle butterfly was adjusted correct. But after looking and feeling the inside of the throttlebody were the butterfly is it seems to be a little wore like the butterfly was rubbing on the inside of it.

Unless its suposed to be like that i supose I'm not real sure.

Joking, while giving advice to someone who MAY not know better is irresponsible.

Many of the new guys don't understand the difference. I didn't see it as a joke. Maybe that's because I'm familiar with carnuck's M.O:

Show up periodically and blast answers into every post he can find, accurate, applicable, or NOT.

Besides, carnuck always has a lame excuse for why he did something like this. This time it's joking. Next time it will be something else.

He creates a bunch of work for others as they follow around hurriedly to clean up his messes before some poor bloke takes the advice.

It's not all wrong advice by any means. But LOTS of it is.

Could be that someone messed with the stop screw and backed it out too far. That allows the butterfly to eat into the throttle bore. When material is worn from the bore, air can pass around it and there's no fix but replacing it.

Thats what i thought so thats why i was asking if i had to stick with the renix or i could go newer without replacing a bunch of other things to when theres no problems with anythig else

I understand. Things got side-tracked in this thread.........Hence post #17.   You've just driven home my point. Sorry about that.

Find a good used TB. Check it for wear in the throttle bore. (Not common BTW). Install it with a new gasket, set the TPS and you're on the way.

So you are a mind reader, too? How do you know what he needs to hear? People are here to explore options, not to have the high and mighty cruiser and Hornbrod shut out those options. And I really don't dislike either of you two, but you really are both becoming the exclusive problem and are so far away from being the solution, it's not even funny.

It is more irresponsible to get something stuck up your butt about postings.

The advice the op needed was, "yes, but you have to swap this"

That is what he got.

Did not need this. And I thought I was antagonistic. Canuck has been here awhile, and generally has good things to say. Lay off it.
