NADA/KBB books don't buy or sell vehicles, but are a place to get an idea where to start.   It's up to the seller/buyer to determine what it's really worth. KBB lists the following details of a vehicle in "good" condition for an "average" private party value.

Good - 54% of all cars we value : Based on Good Condition or Better

Has some repairable cosmetic defects and is free of major mechanical problems

  • May need some servicing
  • The paint and bodywork may require minor touch-ups
  • The engine compartment may have minor leaks
  • Has only minor rust, if any
  • The body may have minor scratches or dings
  • The interior has minor blemishes characteristic of normal wear
  • Wheels may have minor repairable scratches or scrapes
  • All tires match and have at least 50% of tread remaining
  • Though it may need some reconditioning, it has a clean title history and will pass a safety and smog inspection
  • Some service records are available

Bad link....... Here's the good link:

http://wichita.craigslist.org/cto/4375247849.html

I dunno...... That poor truck sure had the rough end of those 58k miles...... Looks like it should have 158k on it.

Good luck with the sale...... But $4200 is awfully optimistic in my opinion.

Thanks for the correction on the link.  I want fair value, what do you think?  Thanks.

How does something get so battered in only 58K? Farm use?

The buy I got it from was on a farm and the last four years before I got it, it was mainly in a shed and not driven much.  Before that, I have no idea.  Thanks everyone for your comments.
