Greetings all. Just got back from my 2wk National Guard annual training. Spotted two Comanches down in Southern Indiana. One red, looked to be 87,  in North Vernon,it was at a business so assuming it ran, and another Black LWB at Muscatatuck. My question. I need to swap out my steering gearbox. I have an 87 2.5 4spd. What donor vehicle can I snag one from at the boneyard? What do I need to look for? Does eng matter(if its from a 4.0)? Thx.

Having not done it myself.......but I have read here that guys swap from XJs to Grands to Dakotas to aftermarkets.

I think you have a wide birth of choices.

Mine with the 2.5l 4 spd had manual steering, the box was fairly expensive and hard to find.

I ended up swapping a power steering setup onto my 2.5l using a steering box from a 4.0l XJ, it bolted right up so any option for a 4.0l rig should work for you aswell.

they should just be a Saginaw box.. gm style.. they say that IROC Camaro boxes have a faster ratio

The IROC got a 12.7:1 ratio, same as the ZJ, which would likely be a better swap.
