mzairboy
Was snooping around the junkyard and came across four Comanches. One grabbed my attention, because it appeared to have a V6 engine in it. It had a really stout radiator, so I took a closer look at the engine, and it looked like a V6. Never thought Comanches came with a V6, unless this one was swapped. Any input or thoughts on this Comanche would be appreciated. I want to learn more about if these existed or not. Minuit
The only V6 that came on a Jeep product in this era was a carbed 2.8 liter GM turd that actually made less power than the TBI 2.5l available as the base engine with less fuel economy and an excessive amount of vacuum lines. 86 only, thankfully. The 4.0 is superior in every possible way except weight.
richasco
Too bad, it looks like a very low serial number.
Minuit
I just noticed that. 9658 makes it a pretty early one. The first known MJ to be produced has a serial number of 3550.
cruiser54
A real collectible turd IMHO.
GirsMJ86
If that's collectible, I've got something in my sig you may be interested in. Just give me two minutes to go readjust the price...
mzairboy
Ok, I get it now. Comanches did come in a V6 option. I also get the idea they are not really desirable.
mvusse
Only in 1986 (Cherokees from 1984 through 1986), and yes, they are not very desirable.
carnuck
If I found an MJ with 2.8L or 2.5L with 3 speed auto, I would look for a 904 from an 80-82 Eagle or Postal Jeep with GM 4 cyl (they have SBC bolt pattern) and bolt in a 4.3L V6 with EFI. 91Pioneer
its so sad seeing MJ's in scrap yards :( I think someone forgot that THERE ALL FIXABLE!!! lol A lot of people think of vehicles as disposable. I don't. I get pissed off by going to junk yards and seeing otherwise perfect vehicles get crushed, when all they need was a brake job or a new fender. I could never work at a junkyard, I'd be like "don't crush that" every day. I'd probably get fired LOL
Oyaji
Anything is fixable given enough time, effort, and money. Sadly, there eventually comes a time when the harsh reality of simple economics kicks in and it just isn't worth it... even for the most devoted hardcore afficianado. :(
