I found this to be mildly interesting. The 10 worst selling mass produced cars in America are all foreign:

( car/country of ownership for manufacturer)

  • 10. Volvo XC90/China
  • 9. Land Rover LR2/ India
  • 8. Nissan Maxima/ Japan
  • 7. Nissan Murano/ Japan
  • 6. Acura MDX/ Japan
  • 5. Infiniti EX/ Japan
  • 4. Acura ILX/ Japan
  • 3. Mitsubishi Lancer/ Japan
  • 2. Volvo C30/ China
  • 1. and the worst selling car in the U.S: Acura TSX/ Japan.

The cancel button just leaves the post the way it was before you clicked "Edit". It doesn't delete the post.

Back to the original post, I'm surprised the Maxima and Murano are on the list. I see a lot of them on the streets. My daughter has owned two Muranos and one Maxima over the past 6-8 years and they have been reliable cars that she enjoyed. She's changed cars so often because my son-in-law manages a dealership and likes to keep her (and our grand-daughter) in safe, reliable, late model vehicles.

Why isn't the Chevy Volt on the list?

I had read that Ford sold more Edsils than Chevy sold Volts in the same time period.  Your tax dollars at work!

The criteria used included production numbers and average time on the dealer lot. Maybe the Volt was made in too small of numbers to qualify? Or they don't have that long of lot time? I think that maybe the Maxima's issue is that you can load up the Altima for less cash and it may be scavenging Maxima sales. The two cars, and Murano, are on the same  platform. The Murano, like the Rogue, has take it or leave it styling that is not well loved by many. The juke is flat-out one of the ugliest cars on the road but isn't on the list which surprised me. I think the Acura's also suffer the same problem that the Maxima does: you can get the equivalent Honda version for a lot less and to me at least the Honda Accord is better looking then the TSX and are the same platform. Same with the Pilot/MDX.
